Usyk will have to fight twice in less than four months if he intends to fight in December - something he doesn't do for years. That if he wins, which is what we all expect.
53 weeks since he'll have last been in the ring then. That's a real shame. Hopefully he'll be able to get out again before the end of the year, even if the Saudi deal fails to happen. Very optimistic on my part, but if this fight ends up being as easy as I'm thinking it'll be there's a chance, hopefully.
Eh, I get where you're coming from, but in fairness to him he did try to fight early in the year in 2019 and 2020 but an injury and COVID delayed those to October both times. Then in 21 he was working on fighting Joyce for an interim title until the AJ-Fury fight fell through and he took the title opportunity. Then last year he had to wait on the AJ rematch stuff ,and given the situation in his homeland, I get why he wanted to take the last chunk of the year off rather than run right into what will likely be one of the hardest fights of his career. Even if he's not an active part of the fighting, that stuff will weigh on anybody. So the inactivity does kinda suck, but it's not like it's by design. Still though, as a boxing fan I can't help but be disappointed, and I'd prolly be a bit more irritated if I had started actively following the sport before 2021. I will say, I wish the first half of this year had been handled by everyone a bit better. I get that negotiations for undisputed were going on, I just wish things could've moved a bit faster once that fell apart. But hey, he finally has a fight scheduled at least, so that'll do for now I reckon. And besides, I guess it could be worse. I could be a Jermall Charlo fan
It is the point of wanting to fight. Ever since he became a heavy he sucks in activity and opposition with all those excuses, valid as much as they can be, they can't completely justify the fact he has four fights in four years, but I shouldn't even count Chazz as a fight. And that, I consider, fair to say about him, just as it is so about everyone and let me bring Fury again - as it is fair to say that after his Whyte fight, he should've done a lot better than what he did. Some (!) people are ignoring or even denying his obstacles and problems over the years, which is totally biased.
Yeah man, both points are completely fair. You're not gonna catch me arguing against the lack of activity sucking at all, even if I do think that Usyk himself is probably just as disappointed in it as we are since he seems to genuinely enjoy his job, or against people ignoring that Fury has had his own runs of bad luck. And while I do rate his wins over AJ pretty highly since I think the guy is given a bit too hard of a time these days, Witherspoon and Chisora are pretty meh. Witherspoon was a last second replacement for Spong who was a replacement for Takam, so I can't be too mad at him for that situation but I'm still pretty disappointed with how it turned out. So while I think the AJ wins are pretty damn good, they'd have even more shine to them if better or at least more names had preceded them. Which got me to thinking, it's too bad we don't live in a world where Usyk beat Carlos Takam in his debut, followed it with a victory over Tyrone Spong later in the year, then beat Chisora and Joyce in 2020 and did both AJ fights in 2021. That'd be a pretty good run... although we might have ended up seeing him fight Trevor Bryan if the WBA had made their order this time last year, and even with more activity that'd still kinda suck
No, it's right exactly what is missing mostly - talking, not arguing. And it is a pleasant surprise to have an objective talk on this.
Im tired of these so-called boxing negotiations that never fall through. They should just announce possible fights when the final contracts finally gets signed.
