Usyk will now be trained by ANATOLY LOMACHENKO, the father and trainer of WBO Super Featherweight World Champion VASYL LOMACHENKO.

    Thoughts?

James Bashir says that Klimas was the one who persuaded Usyk to get rid of him, he isn't happy but seems to direct his unhappiness at Klimas.

Apparently Bashir says that they purposely chose Mchunu for Usyk's US debut because they knew that no one looks good against him, hence giving them a reason to fire him.

Anyway, Lomachenko Snr is also a good trainer who has worked with Usyk before, I'm sure Usyk will continue to do well.

Bashir sounds paranoid about them deliberately choosing Mchunu to try and leverage his dismissal. I said at the time that Mchunu was a stupid opponent to take on for your HBO TV debut because Mchunu is A. a very good fighter and B. He's awkward as hell and no one looks good against him. But if it was a deliberate ploy on their part, and I really doubt it was, it was a very dumb one because not making a good impression on his US TV debut only hurts Usyk.

    Yes.

The other thing with Mchunu is that he's small. Like it or not, people are more impressed when a fighter KOs someone bigger, regardless of how skilled the fighter may be.

Bashir's philosophy is to hit and not get hit, and to take few risks until you've broken your opponent down before you start opening up trying to get them out of there. Usyk has never been an overly cautious type of fighter though. He's a natural showman and he likes to entertain and put on a show for the fans. He's not deathly afraid of getting hit either. The reason why he's not opening up and displaying his full ability and arsenal sooner than he does in fights is because Bashir is holding him back from doing so. This is why Vitali Klitschko went over and had a word in Bashir's ear during one of Usyk's fight where Usyk wasn't impressing like he should have been. I thought that was disrespectful to Bashir but truth be told Bashir shouldn't have really had Usyk on a leash against that kind of opponent or if he was he should've let him off it sooner than he did.
