It was an incredibly brave and highly dangerous thing to do.

Ali took advantage of George’s youth. His ego. His lack of experience.

George massively underrated him. And he expected a 3-4 round blow out.

But he was in the humidity of Zaire, and none of his fights had gone the distance before.

George says that whist he was hitting Ali, Ali was goading him, and saying that he hit like a little girl etc.

    Incredible mind games.

It was one of the greatest wins in the history of the sport.

    Correct.

Everyone in any era all match up stylistically in different ways.

It’s the beauty of the sport.

    The point was:

They were proven against great fighters.

Whereas you have said that they wouldn’t have stood a chance against anybody of today.

Now realistically, with applied logic, they’d probably have had mixed results.

They’d have won some, lost some and drawn some, simply depending on who they fought and how they’d have matched up stylistically on the night.

Now I don’t believe for one second that they’d have beaten today’s guys with ease. Far from it. But you must realise that your initial comments were silly.

To say that they wouldn’t have had a chance of beating anybody, is a ludicrous statement to make.

Most of today’s top 10 would be B and C level guys in stronger eras, and most of them have struggled with and lost to, fighters who were comparable, as well as lesser fighters, than both Frazier and Norton.

So you really need to review the division as well as your initial statement.

It doesn’t matter if they’re more powerful though.

Unless they could utilise it, it’s insignificant.

AJ and Dubois had the power to knock Usyk out. But he was so great and technical, so elusive, that they couldn’t get to him.

Now I’m not saying that Norton and Frazier were on Usyk’s level.

But the point is, being more powerful alone, simply isn’t enough.

Mike would have wrecked most of today’s division with ease.

And I also personally believe that he’d have beaten Usyk. Not because he’s better, but because it would have been an awful stylistic match up for Usyk. Usyk is a genius. But IMHO, he hasn’t got the attributes needed to have beaten Mike. He couldn’t have kept him off of him.

Usyk wouldn’t even beat everyone today. Let’s see him fight Parker, Kabayel, Itauma then we can talk about time travelling.

He couldn't even cook coke head fury and over hyped AJ, he struggled to beat them but he cooks Lewis and Klitschkos? Usyk fan boys have taken over Canelo fan boys now. Struggle with AJ, Fury and Chisora and now you beat everyone in history apparently.

Facts. Ray Mercer in his prime is better than anyone Usyk has currently faced at HW. Joshua was mentally shot since Ruiz which was proved in the Dubois fight. Fury was coming off a SD to an MMA debutant. Dubois was on the spectrum with a questionable team throwing parties and arguably dropped him in the first fight. The next crop of HW’s he has to face in Parker/Wardley, Kabayel, Itauma are far superior to the fighters he’s faced in their current form. If he beats them then he’s an all time at Head to Head.

Forgot to mention Dubois almost got stopped in 1 round by Kevin Lerena prior to the first Usyk fight and was stopped by 2mph Joyce

Uysk is a great fighter and the best Heavyweight of this generation. The trouble is this generation isn't very good. It's not Uysk's fault but Fury is erratic and appears to have been all over the place for the last few years, AJ has never been the same since Ruiz and Dubois seems mentally pretty weak. And that is pretty much all the top level fighters Uysk has beaten at Heavyweight. Three boxers. And he hasn't fought that many times overall anyway.

That's not enough of a resume to assume he will beat all or most of the past Heavyweight greats. I imagine he would win some, lose some and do enough to make it into the top twenty ATG's list. He just hasn't beaten enough genuinely top drawer fighters to push him any higher.
