Usyk will take the rest of the year off and fight his good friend greedy belly one more time in post war Ukraine.

Matchroom delayed Joshua v Usyk 1 as they wanted full crowds back in stadiums and delayed Joshua v Usyk 2 as they wanted to give Joshua time to settle in with Robert Garcia.

Chisora fight delayed because of COVID. Fury 1 delayed because of injury to Fury.

Yes, Usyk could have been a bit more active, but most of the stuff was out of his control.

Why would a professional boxer want to unify the titles - truly groundbreaking question. Thank you for asking, we need discussions like this.

And of course, it’s Usyk who should be stripped (AGAIN) after facing the best of the best in his last six fights.
Other champions can pick opponents, fight bums, but Usyk? Nah, he gets stripped first - right after becoming undisputed and while having an obligation to rematch the second-best HW in the world.
Now, after regaining his title, he’s given just 30 days to make a fight nobody even wants to pay for, because otherwise he’s hOlDiNg Up ThE dIvIsIoN.

Anyway if the same standard had been applied to other fighters, that would be nice.

Yeah its kind of like what is happening to Parker now. He was strung along by the Zhang rematch hanging over his head so he couldn't take another fight in case Zhang invoked it.

Then Dubois decided to fight him for some reason, so he prepared for that only for Dubois to pull out last minute and he got an undercooked Bakole instead.

And now no one wants to fight him, while he waits for his title shot. He apparently said "yes" to Chisora, Whyte and Allen fights, but those guys weren't interested. So he just has to wait around and see what Usyk is going to do.

Hopefully more people will want to fight him if he has a belt around his waist if Usyk doesn't want to fight Parker that is.

You raise some fair points, but it still raises some questions.

Usyk v Chisora was announced in March 2020 when lock downs began and was scheduled to somehow take place in May. Even if the fight went ahead as planned that would have been a 7-month gap between fighting a last-minute replacement in Witherspoon and Chisora. He really should have snuck in a fight in between given his team at the time were saying they didn't like how inactive Usyk had been since Bellew.

The Joshua 1 delays don't affect the 7~8 month window between the WBO officially ordering their negotiations in and the Chisora fight which got delayed until October 2020 (because they wanted to fight in front of a crowd rather than what they did for Whyte v Povetkin). At that time it was understood Undisputed would take priority once the IBF mandatory, Pulev was dealt with in December 2020. It really seemed like Usyk was content to sit on his mandatory position at that point until he got his shot. By rights he could do that. And that is what he did.

Regarding the Joshua 2 delays to bed in Garcia, you are correct on this, but I'm sure Usyk was happy enough given what was going on in the Ukraine, but sure Joshua had ultimate control over when that second fight happened. However, that third possible window for an extra fight would have been after Joshua 2.

Now, I'll grant you the Fury 1 delays. But at the same time that is just a case of Usyk allowing himself to be dicked around by Fury with his fake injuries. Wasn't one of them because he was training without a head guard and they caught the event on an early 2000s smartphone. It was laughable. You just have to get on with fighting your mandatories if undisputed negotiations aren't going as planned.

    Agreed.

What Usyk is being asked to do is negotiate at this stage, not fight.

I got a laugh out of that. Cheers.

Usyk delayed Fury once himself, when he wanted a break over Christmas.
The main delay of that fight was the negotations and Fury being difficult.

But it's amazing how keen these guys like Parker are now to hurry up and make these fights when they spent years treading water.
A good question to ask is why didn't Parker call for the Wilder fight all those years before Fury came back? The reason is he was tied up fighting in NZ against Romanian sparring partners.

That's it. Get all that Parker hate out.

    Feel better now?

If he negotiates immediately, he has to fight 30 days earlier than he aims. He wants 30 days more, so that the fight is delayed 30 days further.

He is being unreasonable and that's why the WBO have refused the extension.

Hopefully, in the couple of days remaining, he will do the right thing and start negotiating to fight his mandatory, Parker. If not, it's bye, bye belt.

It is looking more and more like that he doesn't intend to fight Parker. In which case he is requesting the extension in bad faith, so I wonder how the WBO will react.

Parker has only relatively recently refound his love for the sport and it shows. As a fan he has always been pretty frustrating, even when he was winning, because there was always the feeling that he could be doing better than he was.

Also, both Wilder and Parker were making noises that they were keen to fight each other in a unification fight, but Parker fought Joshua instead. Then it went quiet from both sides.
