Nelson does say certain things to provoke a response because he knows its good for business

But in this case he does seem to be acting like a butthurt fangirl, who is lashing out verbally because his boy was schooled

 

Nelson would probably be a candidate for the most ill suited nickname in sports history.

I saw this, he must be the dumbest ringside "expert" I've had the misfortune to listen to.

 

Usyk would have done terrible things to a prime Nelson.

 

His fight with Carlos De Leon is still my all time most boring fight I've ever made myself sit through and score. So little was done by either man you could conceivably score every round even. I remember I scored the 1st 4 rounds even (I never score even rounds usually) then just said "**** it" and started awarding rounds to whoever landed a "clean punch" per round, pretty sure I had it 116-116 & that was the last Johnny Nelson fight I ever watched. Can't believe he fought for a world title even at all let alone more than once.

 

What to expect from him really??? He did say that Bellew is more skilled than Usyk......

 

How can an fighter be 'outstanding' and 'an average southpaw'? What is Nelson saying here? That Usyk should box orthodox?

Bit of interesting trivia;

When Paddy Considine was preparing for the role of Morell in Shane Meadows' A Room for Romeo Brass, Meadows (who produced and directed the above documentary piece) sent him to spend some time with Gorman.

While the character wasn't based on Gorman (Morell, despite his pretensions, was less a noble gypsy fighter than a haunted and disturbed bully caught in a sorry state of arrested development), Meadows' vision presumably involved his actor absorbing Gorman's mannerisms and idiosyncrasies and working them into his interpretation of Morell, which is exactly what Considine did, and to brilliant effect.

If you care to watch the movie and that documentary piece back-to-back, Paddy's grasp of Gorman's eccentricities will strike you as uncanny.

 

Nelson fought southpaw Corrie Sanders in 92 in a ten rounder. Two judges had it by shut out for Sanders one giving him it by 11. Could never find any footage of that fight. Another average southpaw no doubt.
