Usyk is an excellent cruiserweight, hands down. But the idea being promoted that Usyk is going to take over the heavyweight division is laughable. Yes, Usyk just schooled Gassiev, a young 24 year old puncher, good for him, but I havent forgotten the winner in his fight with Briedis was a coin toss, nor that 4 of his last 6 fights against top cruisers have been decisions. Usyk would be competitive at heavyweight, but more like a new Glazkov as opposed to a new Klitschko. Vs Bellew, Wilder and the smaller heavies, good fights. Vs the super heavyweights, Usyk will struggle. Keep it real. Theres a reason Usyk is now calling out Bellew as opposed to Miller or Fury.
Kay, so tell me what are these super fattieweights will do with a mobile, rangy, super busy, iron-chinned, high ring IQ, multi-angle, solid jabbin son of a gun in an actual fight? That's a target way too hard to hit if you are a slow, plodding 260 lbs puncher with 40 lbs of unnecessary fat or muscle. Surely if AJ catches him it's trouble for Usyk (wasn't that the same story vs. Gassiev tho?), but that's the top dawg at 240+. Could you tell me what other so-called super-heavies would you pick to get to Usyk's iron chin and break it?
One thing Usyk can prove is if a super fit 200 pound man can beat a super heavy. It's the usual argument as to why Marciano and some of the champions of the past have no chance against Lewis, Wlad ET Al. Because if Usyk can't do it, I don't think anyone else in history can.
Excellent amatuer pedigree, great cruiserweight, no arguement, but theres a reason he became a cruiserweight instead of a heavyweight, and a reason hes calling out Bellew instead of a legit heavy. Not strong enough for heavyweight, and the more weight he puts on, the less effective his greatest assets become. No way Usyk gets in with a big boy at heavy, like Bellew, hell only mix it with the smallish cruiser/heavy floaters unless its a title shot payday. People saying hes going to clean out Wilder, Fury, Joshua etc.. are pulling there 3rd leg. Wilder maybe, Fury/Joshua etc.. no chance.
why would the number 1 in his division, be overhyped? if that is indeed a word. would joshua be overhyped if he'd just beat furry and wildman? Would 3G be overhyped if he'd just beaten Canelo? (they are both equal number 1 MW at present) Is Crawford overhyped for being number 1 in his division? Was Ward overhyped for proving the best SMW after the super 6?
Well gee, a slow 200 pound Breidis who wasnt afraid to walk straight through Usyk's pitty pat jabs and right hands only lost by a coin toss, what makes you think Usyk has the power to keep Joshua/Fury/Parker/Whyte/Miller/Wilder/Povetkin/Ortiz/Pulev/Breazeale/Kownacki at bay?
someone calling out Miller of Fury after unifiying the divsion below is a bigmouth. 2Slyk is not of that nature, he appears a one step at the time man, and would you fault his method when you see what hes done?
Evander Holyfield. Unified the division and went on to become one of the greatest heavyweights of all time. Usyk a close second. But the reason I doubt his ability to be sucessful at heavyweight, is he doesnt have power at cruiserweight let alone heavyweight. Breidis walked straight through everything, the big heavies will eat him for breakfast.
