The HW division needs someone to come in and show size isn't everything. Let's hope Usyk is that man. He's about to gatecrash by far the least technical category in boxing and scatter some skill dust. I hope he can help reset the thinking that the next big thing will always need to be the next even bigger specimen. It's my hope anyway. Spectacular display of SKILL last night, btw. I imagine AJ texting McCracken today asking: 'Run it by me again, what's footwork? People were mentioning it a lot last night'
What has what Holyfield did at HW got to do with who the best CW is? Frankly Holyfield beat absolutely nobody at CW worth a damn tbh. De Leon and Qawi were decent but wouldn't be fit to lace the shoes of guys Usyk has beaten. Holyfield was obviously a beast and what he achieved at HW is truly remarkable but there is no way in hell Usyk is #2 to him on all time CW rankings.
10-15 pounds is a lot different to 50-100 pounds, ever think your overating speed too much? The point i keep making, Breidis doesnt have fast hands and is slow, yet still win half the rounds. How? He walked through Usyks best shots and took the fight to him. Do you think guys 50-100 pounds bigger are going to try to box Usyk? Or take the fight to him? Usyk wont have the power to keep the bigger guys at bay. And he wont have an answer except to try and go Hughie Fury style.
Breidis walked through Usyk's shots and lost in his hometown, thx for bringing that up. There's no one resembling of Breidis style, forward movement & intensity at 200+, and the fatter and more muscled up they are, the lesser chance they get to find target so no, I'n, not overrating a fast, busy, mobile, top chinned, intelligent, versatile boxer vs. big, slow punchers. History is full of sweet science prevailing over muscle mass. More so than size beating boxing ability actually.
Not reigning on the parade at all. If you read my original post the first sentence actually aknowledges just how good a fighter Usyk is. Not to mention of those 15 pro fights, his last 6 biggest fights have all been away from home. Fantastic achievement, superb fighter... at cruiserweight. I even mentioned how he could be a contender and challenge some fighters people here regard as top heavyweights. All i am doing is bringing back to reality the clowns on here saying Usyk is going to clean out the heavyweight division. Laughable, he hasnt got the power to keep big fighters off of him. Still has unfinished business with Breidis IMO let alone worrying about heavyweights.
Damn straight, i put together a highlight reel to prove your point. This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected
I'm excited to see what Usyk can do at heavyweight but don't think he'll just go up and dominate. He's definitely gonna be a player in the division and I think can beat a lot of the guys in the top 10, but to say he will be the next dominant champion is a leap at the moment.
When Usyk steps up and wins a version of the heavyweight title 4 times, and fights some big and bad heavyweights like Bowe, Foreman, Tyson and Lewis among others, let me know.
Co Could have been, not 100% sure, pretty sure this fight has been in the works though, its a safe big money fight for both guys.
