Oh, I agree there would be financial reasons for fighting him. I'm saying what does beating Bellew prove regarding his chances at HW?
It’s interesting how people apply logic when they talk about Loma moving up in weight classes, acknowledging that his size will prove to be his downfall if he climbs to high, and faces the elite. But those same people always fail to apply the same logic when talking about cruisers moving to heavyweight.
Proves a little, like when Roy Jones beat Ruiz, sure Ruiz was the worst beltholder at the time but it was making a statement.
I would probably rate Usyk as #3 Cruiserweight, which is good. Holyfield to me was the clear 1st, and Jirov was 2nd. Jirov would have beaten Usyk. Additionally He would have struggled mightily with Juan Carlos Gomez who was a beast at 199, and with Sugar De Leon also, although I think he shades those two fights.
But Ruiz was a legit heavy. Bellew is a guy who moved up from LHW to CW and from CW to HW. Frame-wise he's even smaller than Usyk.
Well put. The top guys might well catch him and knock him out but he's def got the potential to cause anyone in the division problems.
I don't believe Fury in the best shape he'd ever been in would make him the best HW. Top 5, for certain but best not imho
This tends to happen after every big fight. Just gotta endure and ignore the static noise. Unfortunately many will hate Usyk more now, despite his doing nothing but unifying all the titles in his division.
The thing about the win over Ruiz was, several top rated HW's STILL couldn't beat Ruiz. RJJ pretty much shut him out.

Didn't expect Usyk to fight mainly off the back foot, great game plan. Very intelligent fighter. I think he beats all HW's besides AJ and Wilder. He's always faster than his opponent and always gets off first. Wilder is bigger, faster, and more powerful, I think it could shock Usyk and maybe a catch him with an unorthodox bomb. 50/50 fight to me. To beat Usyk or Loma you either have to beat them to the punch and dictate the fight or throw all caution to the wind, not give a single duck about anything they do, and come forward and make it a dog fight. Say what you will about AJ, but he's a gladiator with serious artillery.
Lomachenko has moved up 10 pounds in his career. To take on most of the top heavies, Usyk will have to move up 50-100 pounds. Theres a huge difference between lighter guys and cruisers moving up, and why most cruisers never quite make it at heavyweight.
Most CWs already are HWs come fight night. And many HWs are just fat cruisers that are too lazy or talentless to move down. It's not like HW is filled with highly trained giants in the peak of condition. Only really Joshua fulfils those criteria. That's why it's logical to consider Usyk's chances moving up to HW more than it is Loma's chances moving up in weight. He'll have to move from fighting lean and muscular 210-215 lbers with elite skills to fighting overweight plodders with man boobs. In such circumstances the weight disadvantage doesn't start to add up to a whole lot.
