Have you seen Usyk's WSB fights at SHW? He outclassed:

Medzhidov - 2x World Am Champ beat Joshua & hurt him multiple times, KO'd Savon, KO Dychko, Omarov, etc
    Joyce - 2016 Olympic Silver 6'6 240lbs puncher
Nistor - stopped Joshua, beat up Olympic Champ Yoka but was robbed, Omarov, Russo, Pfeifer
    Fa - 6'6 250lbs beat Parker at least 2x

Nistor was his only competitive fight and he's a small HW 6'1 southpaw swarmer/slugger with heavy hands like a Frazier/Ibragimov hybrid. Usyk has an easier time against the big guys where his skills, speed and athleticism are accentuated even more.

Can't wait to see Usyk fight again. Mchunu is a good fighter, he got a good amount of clean shots....

We'll see. It would be a pleasant surprise to see a smaller heavyweight can still win the title in the age of the super heavyweights.

Sorry, but I wasn't that impressed with Usyk. Maybe it was because his opponent was awkward, short, but almost none of Usyk's shots landed cleanly and he doesn't carry that much pop. The other thing is, when a fighter acts odd, as I think Usyk did at times, there is generally more to the story. Not sure what to make of his antics at various times in the fight.

Also, Mchunu, though he looked good at times, was puzzling. He was never really hurt yet he chose to quit. A lot of these African fighters behave in this manner. They seem to have the attitude of "I don't think I can beat this guy tonight, so I will just quit to fight another day" which is logical but not the stuff of legends.

He looked utterly puzzled in the first few rounds as Mchunu was rolling with all of his shots and making him miss but I expected that. Thabiso just didn't throw enough combinations and was just too small at the end of the day. But, Usyk does move really well which should be expected considering who his trainer is. I'm not sure what is left for him at CW though and I wonder how difficult a time he has making weight.

I like his style- it's definitely fan friendly. I'm curious about his chin though and how it would hold up against a strong counterpuncher. He does leave himself open a lot and could be vulnerable against a heavy hitting fighter (especially at HW.)

He's a very good fighter though with terrific hand speed for a fighter his size. It's always a tall task to ask a CW to move up to HW and attempt to be a champion in that division since the weight disparity can be huge from fighter to fighter.

I'd like to see him continue at CW as long as he can continue making it comfortably. It's been a long time since there was a really dominant champ in that division.

Casuals cannot comprehend what he does in a ring as evidenced by this thread and the comments on the RBR last night. Usyk toyed with a difficult guy then turned it on and off at will seemingly stopping the fight when he was ready but so many acted like he was complete hype because he took his time and did not go for an early stoppage.

FYI Usyk has never gone for an early stoppage in any of his pro fights. He literally takes 2-4 rounds just to play around and gauge his opponents tendencies. If ever confronted with an opponent who makes it difficult for him early you will see a much different approach from Usyk.

Actually you had Chilemba up on Kovalev like 5-1 or 6-0 after six so I take nothing you say seriously.

He's actually taken some pretty big shots for SHW in the amateurs and WSB no problem, to me it seems like it's a very good chin. It'll have to be, like you say, although he can no doubt fight more defensively if needed.

Well said. Usyk also likes to defend with a high guard and move around a lot which is a good strategy against taller guys with reach advantage, it's one of the textbook ways to defeat taller guys really. The high guard defends the head while your body is already well protected by the virtue of being shorter, especially if you drop down a bit making yourself even smaller target. Then add Usyk's speed and footwork to the to the mix.

Kind of a slapper isn't he? Moves around OK but Mchunbo(?) landed a lot of shots,
a heavy hitting HW might be bad news for Usyk.

Against a better fighter he would have been KO'd. He left his chin hanging out there for a left hook all night.
