He wasnt really knocking out top fighters at Cruiserweight either so lets stop with that weight excuse.
A finisher is someone who when they have someone hurt finishes the fight. Such as Crawford, Inoue, Joshua, Beterbiev, prime GGG etc
Fury wasnt TKOd. Fury lost a split decision. Stop creating fantasies. Usyk had 3 more rounds after that to get Fury out of there and couldnt. Stop with the excuses. Hes not a very good finisher. It ok.
Disagree about Usyk never being built for heavyweight. Usyk is naturally bigger than Evander Holyfield. Cruiser's had to come in at 190 or less in Evander's day. Usyk 200. Also just looking at them, Evander Holyfiled is a slighter framed guy who just packed on a bunch of muscle bodybuilding style to be about 210 -217. Usyk is a naturally bigger framed than Holyfield fighting at 220ish, and he just looks like a really fit guy at that weight. Agree with the rest of it though.
With the exception of AJ and Belly both of whom are obviously way bigger and heavier than him, and Michael Hunter, I can't really think of any instances where Usyk has failed to finish someone after hurting them. Has he ever failed to stop someone he's knocked down other than Belly? He had AJ and Hunter hurt in the final round and had there been a round 13 he likely would've stopped them. I think most refs would've stopped the Hunter fight in round 12 anyway. To be fair he hurt AJ too in round 3 of the first fight He hurt Chisora but only a little And Usyk sure as hell would've finished Belly had the ref not intervened He never really hurt Briedis, Gassiev, and Glowacki but then again he boxed to orders against the later two and wasn't really trying to get them out of there He has stopped 14 of his 22 victims and that 14 could very easily be 16 had the refs waved off the Belly and Hunter fights and, again, a bunch of the fighters who've taken him the distance are super tough and durable (Briedis, Gassiev, Hunter and Chisora, three of whom have never been off their feet) and huge punching KO artists like Wlad, Povetkin, and Whyte couldn't stop AJ.
Exactly. The "Fury was his toughest fight" and "he didn't TKO Fury, it was a 12-round fight" narratives are nothing but fanboy copiums. Fury was in the corner, completely out of it, with bent knees, and with his side turned to Usyk, his temple exposed and in point blank range. His hands were lowered to his shins, unable to defend himself. Usyk had his left hand cocked back, ready to take Fury’s head clean off. Just look at Fury's eyes in that moment—it's the look of sheer terror, of a man who knows he's about to be obliterated. That’s when the referee literally stepped in and physically held Usyk back from finishing Fury. What are we even talking about here with this toughest fight and 12 round fight BS? Do Fury's eyes look like they say "it's a 12-round fight" or "I'm the toughest fight of Usyk’s career"? No, it literally screams "please, don’t kill me, master." It’s the look of a prey facing an apex predator, knowing he's seconds away from being finished and utterly powerless to do anything about it. Fury wasn't Usyk’s toughest fight and he was knocked out in the 9th. End of.
"I'm the toughest fight of Usyk's life, it's a 12 round fight, I'm not about to be saved by the ref from being knocked the f*** out." Yeah, right
Usyk would have stoped Fury if the damn ref hadn't jumped in the way. Absolutely robbed of the most epic TKO (or KO) of this era.
Agreed. There were two right, left combos which landed flush shortly before the ref intervened and they really hurt Belly bad albeit obviously he was already hurt and in big trouble and the final right, left which sent him reeling into the ropes for the KD had him just one more clean shot away from oblivion. He was a sitting duck at that point and Usyk was a split second away from knocking him out
Who's a better finisher at HW then? Wilder had four chances to take out Fury and fluffed every one. Zhang failed to finish either Hrgovic or Parker despite knocking them down and badly hurting them. Joshua? Well maybe, but Joshua isn't fighting particularly high class opponents at the moment. Parker doesn't have the power to finish anyone, Dubois doesn't have the skills, Anderson is untested and failed to finish Charles Martin and Joe Joyce might be a spent force. So only really Joshua is the correct answer here.
Looking at his threads recently i think he is either trolling and baiting or he clearly is slow and just likes to argue till the end of time.
