I am a huge Usyk fan. He is the greatest heavy of his era. But obviously if his man wins at hw are Joshua x 2, Fury x 2, and Dubois, then the highest you can rank him is top 20 all time at heavy.

Usyk is more of a P4P great. At heavy, he moved up a little too late to establish an Ali like legacy.

He shouldn't be fighting AJ again. Give Fury his rematch and fight someone new or retire.

    Not surprised tbh
    He is coming up 38
It is a good HW resume if you think 5 fights being

    Joshua
    Joshua
    Dubois
    Fury
    Fury (assuming this fight happens)

That would be 5 big HW wins and in a row (assuming he beats Fury again)
It's not like outside of Fury and Joshua that there were higher rated HWs he isn't fighting

While this is true when future generations evaluate Usyks resume the first thing they are going to say is he really just fought 4 guys from the British Isles.

Yeah, when it's your favorite boxer, he will get a pass for everything.

2 mediocre boxers and you are top of the top. even ATG at that weight.

Boxing standards are so low nowadays.

Usyk is a phenomenal talent, and one of my favorites, but he needs to do more than just rematching the same two fighters.

I'm not really sure why he would to be honest, at 37/38 he has achieved all there is to achieve and has earned the right to only take the big paydays if he fights on.

    Let's look at his options:-

    • The Fury rematch is contracted so not much choice there
    • In most folks lists, Joshua and Fury are STILL the 2nd and 3rd rated/ranked heavyweights behind Usyk, so the big paydays also are the best of the top 10 fighers (although Dubois could potentially upset that apple cart... see below)
    • Aside from Fury and Joshua, is there any other heavyweights that actually add that much to his legacy when all is said and done? Zhang? Parker? Kabayel? He's already beaten Dubois once as well, so that would also be a repeat affair!

The sad truth of the matter is that there isn't really anything Usyk can do to enhance his legacy much more, but he could certainly do it some damage by fighting on too old and losing to father time.

IMO, short of going back down and getting Undisputed at cruiser again (an achievement that has never been accomplished), KOing Fury to put an exclamation mark on him being the bona-fide best HW is the only thing he can really do to enhance his legacy - that would be 2 unequivocal wins against the consensus 2/3 of his generation.

Aside from the payday, I don't see that Usyk gets much more from a 3rd Joshua run out, unless he decides to go for a KO - he's proven what needed to be proven there - whilst right now, there are maybe some folks that still think the Fury fight was close and still has some unanswered questions.

Personally, I'd have like to have seen Usyk retire after beating Fury, not giving him a rematch as Karma for Fury ducking Wlad rematch. Nothing left to prove, and whilst I'd miss seeing him in action, I don't want to see him do a Roy Jones or anything, losing to someone not fit to laces his prime-boots!

I’d like to see him fight someone new. The rematch clauses and 9 month wait is frustrating.

Parker just beat Wilder and Zhang, give him a go

2 mediocre boxers? They were the best that the division had to offer. Whom should he have fought instead for you to not get all sceptical?

There isn't much he can do true. But he CAN do more than just rematch the guys he fought already when hes only got 3 title opponents at the weight class and 5 opponents total at the weight class. His short resume is going to be a problem regardless but he could have made it a little less glaring.

If hes not going to fight someone new might as well retire after the Fury rematch assuming he wins.

AJs ranking should be irelevant so long as Usyk remains the champ. Usyk beat him in close but clear decisions twice. That should be the end of that pairing.

There's no one else worthy tbh

Maybe Bakole but will Usyk risk it? I don't think he will......

Bakole is probably the least deserving. Parker and Zhang would be front runners imo.

He's 37 y/o, won three of the four belts at HW in his third fight at the weight, became undisputed at HW in his sixth fight at the weight, which would've been his fourth fight at the weight had Belly not shamelessly ducked him, and he beat the two best HWs of his generation to become undisputed, who after he beat them are now the #2 and #3 best. AJ wouldn't fight him without a rematch clause and he has to rematch Belly too.

He's also beaten the now WBA champ and #6 ranked Dubois who won it against the highly ranked Hrgovic who regardless if you had him winning or not beat the #4 ranked Big Bang and even if you didn't only lost to him by a single round.

And he beat Chisora in one of those two other fights up at HW who was robbed in his very next fight against the #3 ranked J-Park and has subsequently beaten the then #8 ranked Big Joe Joyce, Pulev and has only lost to the #1 ranked Belly and #3 ranked J-Park since losing to Usyk

Usyk didn't even turn pro until coming up for 11 years ago now and he was going on 27 y/o then and he's become undisputed at two weights in just 22 fights, winning and unifying all those titles in his opponent's backyards or on the road.

    Olympic gold
    World Amateur gold
    European gold

Won all his fights at SHW in the WSB

Undisputed CW champion in 15 fights

Undisputed HW champion in 22 fights

    P4P#1

Won all his medals in major championships in the amateurs on the road too

Never ducks or dodges anyone, never tries to handicap his opponents at the negotiating table, wins his fights via clean boxing and zero use of illegal tactics, and in complete contrast to almost all his peers he fights his opponents in their backyards time and time again at the drop of a hat.

All of that should factor into his legacy and accomplishments too because the same does not apply to the vast majority of other fighters, including many of the legends and greats.

He's clocked the game. He should just retire after the Belly rematch. If he was 5-10 years younger or even 3 or 4 it would be different but he will be 38 y/o in January and has been past his prime for years. The HW division is not the place to be for a 38 y/o blown up CW who relies on their speed, movement, elusiveness and athleticism, especially in this day and age of super size giant HWS who hold huge physical advantages over you.
