I dont know much about Gomez. Though if a guy went from ATG to just a decent fighter because of 4 ****ing pounds it makes you question his opposition at 122. It's not like he had been moving up. 126 was his first attempt to a multi division world champ.
Different styles and competition, same results. Both Usyk and Holyfield are the best in their respective time. It's impossible to predict a winner.
This viewpoint is so flawed, in so many ways, and yet sadly is so commonplace among casual fans today. 4 lbs, in that weight range, MATTERS. A lot. So far beyond your comprehension. Climbing up in weight, believe it or not, as much as this is going to go in one ear and out the other because you already have your mind set on a misguided definition for the very term, has nothing to do with p4p greatness.
Holyped was a beast at CW. Usyk clearly more skilled, see Toney's total outclassing of Evan Fields as an example. However, you need powet to keep Holyped off you and I'm still not sure Usyk could keep him at bay. Would be a fantastic fight, but remember the great boxer beats the great puncher. In this case, Evan is against a better boxer, no matter what the bias amongst you believe.
Usyk is a better boxer than prime Lewis but would have the snot beaten out of him by Lewis. The only reason I think Usyk can win a HW title is because this is a weak era. Holyfield h2h against Usyk is different to being able to fight against big punching HWs. Obviously Evan's diet helped him overcome any physical deficiencies. Usyk has a clear ceiling above which he will get battered by a good HW.
FAO: Holy Rollers... You need to justify your position that Qawi x2 + De Leon (with the next best quality after that being Tillman and Byarm) somehow >>> Gassiev, Briedis, Glowacki, Huck, Mchunu, and Hunter. To my eyes that is a tally of 3 great victories for Holyfield against 2 great ones for Usyk plus a near-great and three very good. The drop-off after Holyfield's couple of great scalps? VERY steep. How then do you reckon Holyfield did more at the weight?
GOAT cruiser and hot on the heels of his countryman for p4p #1. This content is protected Talk about Cat and mouse.
Toney beating a shopworn Holyfield, that wasn't close to being near what he was at cruiser, has no bearing. Juan Carlos Gomez would have been a serious problem for Usyk, as would a young Holyfield.
