Love the guy, but he really is a goofball. Since Fury 1, he has given 5-6 distinct scenerios on what he intends to do, and now has give two in one day. Everyone is buzzing with the fact that he said he wants two fights--the winner of Dubois-Parker and Pereira, but he also said later (apparently there were two interviews in the same day) that he wants to fight in Kiev, and Chisora would possibly be an opponent. Start at about 6:10. This content is protected Anyway, he ruled out a return to cruiser, and also said he has no interest in bridger:
Usyk is great fighter and likeable person but I won't support ideas of Pereira fight and Chisora rematch. If he chooses to fight on he needs to keep doing what he has done his whole career at the top level - fight the best opponents possible. But I don't think he will relinquish his WBC title and fight Chisora instead of facing Zhang vs Kabayel winner assuming he beats Dubois vs Parker winner and wants to keep going on
Chisora is now IBF mandatory, actually. For the record: IBF- Chisora for beating Wallin WBO- Kabeyel is #1, Zhang #3, so winner will be #1 WBA- Wardley #1, though Pulev as the "regular" belt WBC- Zhang #1, Kabeyel #2, so winner will be #1 here, to.
At this stage, Usyk can do whatever he wants and I would have no issue with that. He has beaten the top rivals of his era. This isn't like a Mayweather moment where he had the cloud of Pacquiao hanging over him.
If Usyk wants to mess about, I guess I like the idea of it being Chisora. For Chisora’s sake — I’m a little worried he’s going to do something dumb like try to get in there with a guy who can crack. Usyk would beat the pants off him but not do serious damage.
It looks like Usyk is going to face the winner the champion and then have an easy fight (Pereira, Ngannou, Wilder, Chisora). It's hard to blame him for ending smoothly. I believe Chisora is number 2. The IBF mandatory will be the winner of Bakole vs Ajagba.
Could be right. I was listening to Frank Warren and he said Chisora is now #1. But you might very well know better. I guess the greater point is that surreal as it is, Chisora is one of the top of the division.
Usyk will fight parker/dd next and if he wins? He can fight whoever he wants as a swansong I can't see Daniel doing much better and although I like parker, I can't see him doing it either Dubois would still have a punchers chance, but I doubt usyks chin will crack overnight.
Usyk beat everyone relevant at the relevant moments. Pacquiao and Mayweather have a lot of question marks over avoiding people, making fights too late and questionable decisions. I rate PAC and Mayweather higher than Usyk but I understand how people may rate Usyk higher.
Honestly, I think Usyk doesn't care too much who he fights, or really knows what his plans are after Dubois/Parker. He's probably happy to be getting such a paycheck these days compared to his CW, and early HW days, in which Usyk - the true HW champion and the best of this generation deserves.
