AJ is lucky Usyk is a kind man and took pity on him and didn't want to knock him out in front of his own fans because he really could have if he wanted to. That little barrage at the end from Usyk was just him sending a message to AJ letting him know that he has gears he can go through and that if he wants to put his foot down and assert his authority it won't end well for him in the rematch. Look at the state of AJ in the corner after the final bell. Had Usyk put his foot down earlier in the round or there just been 10-15 more seconds to go David wouldn't have just KO'd Goliath he would've done so in Goliath's back garden in front of close to 70,000 of his people despite everything being stacked against David and trust me the excuse machine and the level of salt would've been even more biblical than we're seeing now and it's already off the charts. A change of tactics that seem to amount to "come forward". Bad news for Johnny is that AJ actually was moving forward most of the fight, he just had no way of cutting off Usyk so the fight took place in the centre of the ring. They talk as if AJ moving forwards means Usyk is just going to back up in a straight line on to the ropes. Johnny is lucky he's charismatic.
Usyk doesn`t fight like Fenech and Nelson fought Salvador Sanchez, AJ could never have lasted the distance P4P with a fighter as good a Sanchez.
My point was more about saying someone is not tough and then having a different outcome. Certainly no one can compare AJ with Nelson at this point.
Usyk is gods gift to boxing. I finally said it. All intelligent boxing fans were thinking it but it is what it is.
The point is the first Nelson v Fenech fight was a barnstormer and closer than AJ v Usyk, AJ needs a new corner he didn`t have a clue how to deal with Usyk`s movement, he hasn`t fought any good southpaws, his fight v Martin was an early stoppage.
Well, my comment was more about the simple fact that the rematch was much harder for Fenech than the initial fight which most thought he should have gotten the decision. In that fight, there was talk of Nelson having malaria, so that was the excuse. In the rematch he blew Fenech out. Fenech probably thought the rematch would be much different since the first fight he was the aggressor. And in this next weekend to look at rematches or rubbermatches, the Fury fight this next weekend, Wilder has to have a bigger advantage than he did in the second fight just because Fury cannot be as motivated this time around. I give Wilder a chance with that one punch power and Fury having to do this again when he really should not have had to.. One lapse in concentration and Wilder could win. Fury has to stay motivated and concentrated.. It will be hard after 2 fights where he put out his all.
I just don`t think AJ or Wilder are good enough, AJ`s team have already stated thee`s no drawing board and they want AJ to do the same thing, Nelson changed his tactics, he was more aggressive.
I doubt Usyk thought AJs gameplan was to give him control of the center of the ring from round one and never attempt to impose any of his size advantage so it makes sense he expected a tougher fight from AJ
