Nothing against Joyce, he's a big, strong, game lad, and nothing against British fighters there are loads of top notch guys. But UK commentators are the lol-worst I've heard. As good as some of their knowledge is, their bias is even more apparent. I'm not sure whether to admire such partisanship or to just shake my head and turn the sound off.

It's not going to be easy for Usyk at heavyweight. He doesn't have a lot of power, so his only option is to outbox everyone at heavy. He's easily giving up 20-40 lbs on any given fight and that's a lot of lbs. He's also at a size and power disadvantage.

Usyk has a lot of skills, but he's going to be fighting against much bigger and stronger men. And sometimes, those attributes can neutralize skills.

European silver medalist Frazer Clarke rates Joyce very highly. In addition to Clarke fighting Joyce 4 times in the amateurs and sharing a ring with him in sparring regularly Clarke has sparred hundreds of rounds if not more with the current three-belt unified HW king AJ.

Dave Allen rates Joyce very highly too. Allen has also sparred hundreds of rounds with AJ, sparred Tyson Fury, and like Clarke he's also shared a ring with many other top HWs.

So as you can see they all rate him highly and agree that he's a lot better than he looks on tape and it's a lot more difficult when you're sharing a ring with him than you think it's going to be. He's obviously been bashing up a lot of much higher ranked HWs in the gym for them to feel so confident about moving him so fast. Haye has basically said as much. He's a destrunctinator.

Joyce ain't stylish but gets the job done. He has the hardware to prove it.
Though I'm not a fan of his style or ability I'm interested to see how he actually goes. Like he might do alright just through brute force and conditioning.

His face reminds me of someone who is about to star in a community hall pantomine for some reason.

If Usyk had more time in the second round he would of stopped Joyce.

What Usyk lacks in power and size at heavyweight he makes up for with his accuracy, defense and high work rate. His accuracy will be even higher against the slower and larger men at heavyweight.

Yes, and he will have to more aggressive which could compromise his defense in some spots. He's the smaller man, which means he will need more offensive when fighting guys who has height and reach advantage. Opening up too much could leave him more open and a heavyweight punch is much deadlier than a punch from a Cruiser.

If Usyk was 6'6" at 240, he'd school everyone, but he's not. Heavyweights can land 1 punch and end a fight. Because of the size disadvantage, Usyk will use even more energy attacking and defending then he did at Cruiser. This could lead to vulnerabilities in the later rounds.

Accuracy can be compromised once you have to fight someone bigger. You have to work harder to land a punch that would normally land against someone his size.

If he takes a couple of fights before challenging the elite at heavyweight he will acclimate to the division. Usyk's rapid shots will be unlike anything the lumbering giants will have seen before. Gassiev hits nearly as hard and is faster than the elite heavyweights, yet he didn't come close to separating Usyk from his senses. I favor Usyk against most heavyweights because of his reaction time.
