Usyk Should Be Criticized For Fighting Wilder

Seriously : aj was man enough to give usyk his shot , fury was man enough to give usyk his shot .
And usyk ... chickens out infront of parker for an invisible injury , chickens out infront of wardley dropping a belt and chickens out infront of kabayel by fighting a complete shot wilder instead.

In many ways, Usyk was man enough to give Fury his shot rather than the other way around... Usyk was the unified champion with three straps, Fury had only one.

And Fury had to be dragged kicking and screaming to the ring by Turki and his magic chequebook.

 

You can say they were both man enough if you like - but Usyk was the one with more straps, more willingness to fight and coming off the back of the more impressive performances against the better opponents... In no sense besides hype and casual recognition was Fury the bigger star.

 

In that case, if you insist on defining it that way, then who was the "bigger star" has no bearing on who had to man up... Because casuals and hype weren't making Usyk scared of Fury, but something was making Fury hide (at best, it was greed hoping the pay would get bumped, which of course it did eventually).


And PS, I just told you what else could make a bigger star... Unless you want to let casuals opinions define the sport for you, now?

Name just 1 meaningful "tite fight" Berto won. During a WW era featuring Floyd, Manny, Cotto, Mosley, Tim Bradley, Margarito, Paul Williams...Berto managed to beat ZERO of them. Berto beat the likes of........Josesito Lopez? A second option as a late replacement? Quintana? A literal sparring partner? THOSE are the best of his WORLD TITLE WINS...and you bigging up that? Just stop.

Berto himself was a fringe Top 10 contender even if he was a "champion" at times during his career. Berto being champ at all shows how ridiculous all these sanctioning bodies are...

And J Chavez was a fun fighter, absolutely nothing to hang a hat on. Floyd had many such fights. Many.

 

The theme is not who was the bigger star at fury-usyk1 .

The theme is that usyk obviously avoids three legit opponents in a row with fishy excuses to pick up a completely shot , now chanceless guy on his final road to retirement and calls it a wbc title defence .

 

You're calling a fighter who won 7 World title fights a bum I think that's a bit ridiculous and frankly disrespectful.

No one is saying Berto is a great fighter but he had a solid win coming into the Mayweather fight vs Lopez and he beat some notable names after the Mayweather loss.

Plus Berto in his losses was atleast very competitive he was also the WBA number 1 contender.

Wilder on the other hand hasn't had a notable in years and he didn't win a single round vs Zhang or Parker losing 0-17 in rounds.

So neither fight is great but I'd rate the Berto fight higher than the current version of Wilder.

 

Usyk doesn't deserve criticism for doing the right thing.

Obviously, he wants to close out his era, where throughout the 2010's the top 3 HW's were Fury, Wilder and Joshua.

He has already beaten 2/3 so why not finish the mission before potentially passing the torch to this new 2020's era?

 

Mr. Fury, Usyk says he's got five fights left. He can still take on some of those guys. And let's be clear, Usyk brought more to the table than your son did.

By the way, did your son give Wladdy a rematch?
