Berto was a fringe contender his entire career. That's why he never had a meaningful moment. In fact, his best moment was getting beat the F up by Ghost Guerrero.

 

Yes Josesito Lopez Is a solid win and Berto won fights after the Mayweather fight beating Ortiz, Alexander.

A fringe contender doesn't win 7 world title fights you're being ridiculous.

Berto was clearly better than a fringe contender he was a belt holder who won 7 world title fights.

Berto's form coming into the Mayweather fight wasn't the best just like Wilder.

But Berto had a solid win over Lopez prior to the Mayweather fight that made him the WBA number 1 contender. Berto also had some solid wins after the Mayweather fight beating Ortiz, Alexander.

My argument is despite Berto not being a great fight by any means. Was better than the Wilder fight who is 40 years old totally shot, 2-4 in his last 6 fights, and he didn't win a single round vs the last 2 world class Heavyweights he fought in Parker, Zhang.

And I don't see that you've done anything to disprove what I've said above.

If this is Usyk's last fight then I can overlook the Wilder fight. But if he has intentions of fighting other top contenders then I'm not a fan of pointless fights since Usyk isn't that active to begin with.

 

Its a odd choice imo because Wilder has a punchers chance and it would screw his legacy completely if Wilder gets a lucky punch and he has a loss against a washed Wilder

None of Bertos "7 world title fights" were versus world level competition. They were versus fringe contenders. Berto himself was of that cloth. Thats no knock on him as a person, but as a professional WW he was completely irrelevant and lost every meaningful fight he was ever in.

Wilder was at least meaningful in his prime. Berto was never that.

 

Wilder isn’t the same guy anymore man, he got 12-0’d by Parker who lost to Wardley, absolutely flattened on the ground like a pancake by Zhang and his win is stopping a literal nobody in 7 rounds.

Styles don’t matter, Wilder does not deserve a title shot with the things that went down in his latest ring appearances, and Usyk should absolutely be criticized if he fights him when guys like Wardley are laying around.
