Usyk should not be called 2 time undisputed heavyweight champion

Sorry for the provocative title, but I think it's a marketing sham for media and fans to emphasize that usyk might become three time undisputed.

In the past the multi-time champion distinction started I think with Patterson regaining his title. Ali did it, too, later.

But they all lost their title in the ring and had to pick themselves up and overcome that to win against legitimate champions.

Usyk is a continuous domination. Dubois was a paper champion, because Usyk gave away his title / got stripped. It was belt shenanigans. Dubois didn't even do the (voluntary) 'defense' of the paper belt against parker.

So it bugs me that media and fans are buying this stuff, like it's special to maybe see a 3 time undisputed hw (if usyk gets stripped and wins again, and he would win). The special thing about Usyk is his domination of hw to the point where there is no worthy challenger right now.

(Btw 'undisputed' in general is also bs, crawford wins one fight against old canelo and he is undisputed, opetaia doesn't get the fights he would clearly win and isn't undisputed. Usyk was in luck that the tournament was made in cruiser. Undisputed is as much down to the matchmaking power as it is to the fighter's skills)

    Cheers

    I agree.

He has ruled with an iron fist and never lost, unlike those other guys who had to try, try and try again.

Regardless of the orgs decisions, he won it both times with his fists
He is legitimately a 2 time undisputed champion

Just because Ali and Patterson were losers doesn't mean Usyk should be too. This woke nonsense has gone too far.

Eh, I'd say he's only a 2 time undisputed champion on a technicality. As far as I'm concerned he never lost any of the belts, and gifting it for two people to fight over it that he already beat doesn't count to me.

It's kind of like AJ is not a 2 time champ

You can't get chinned by Ruiz jr then win the belts back and run around the ring like you're a legit 2 time champ. Ignoring the fact his first belt was duff also but I GuESS beating OAP Wlad during that period legitimised him whilst Fury was on his bender.

The disgusting thing is AJ would have acted like he was Jesus if he chinned Dubious for that vacant belt yet all eyes can see frauds from a mile away. AJ choked whilst Eddie ran around saying he'd be like Ali if he beat dubious lol.

Like I said despite the orgs decisions he win it back with his fists

Boxing is historically littered with daft decisions from orgs

Many fighters don't actually lose belts and regain them at some point

But I've rarely if ever seen anyone not count the reign in which the win a belt back as a technicality

The whole thing about being 'two time, three time' etc. as though it's an achievement is laughable in itself. It means you've been beaten and dethroned which is not as good as being 'one time' for the same period.

The most obvious example of that is AJ being two time because he lost to Ruiz and had to scrap his belt back. That's just pure humiliation he had to do that when he should have won the first time.

Don't get me wrong, Ruiz had way more ams experience even though he didn't go to the Olympics and had very fast hands and amazing boxing skills. He was also a really tough guy. I remember Arreola dropped him and it didn't stop him.

Lol, I just remember that round table where the pundits weren't sure AJ could win the rematch against Ruiz. So funny.
    Ruiz has beaten nobody since.

The most hilarious thing is that AJ is actually a lot better than Ruiz but he still lost because he wasn't as tough and determined. That loss is more disgraceful than any loss Eddie Chambers ever had and Chambers would not lose to Ruiz.

It just becomes a defense at that point because he never really lost the belt, which is why i view two time as a technicality. But that's just me.

This is one of the reasons I fully SUPPORT Turki, Dana, and Zuffa boxing. The greed of the WBC, IBF, WBO, WBA...and those orgs are trying recognize yet ANOTHER belt organization. They want to keep collecting 3% for title fights, make more weight classes, and give out belts for "regular champs", "interim champs", "champs in recess", "franchise champs", etc. Apparently boxing is tee-ball and everyone gets a trophy for showing up.

So, yes, I hope Turki and Dana White clear out ALL of these belt orgs and ALL of these promoters. The current state of affairs is disgusting.

Usyk and Bud being stripped were nails in the coffin for me.

I agree, he should be called 3 time undisputed not 2. Honestly though 1 time is good enough feat for me.

Nobody said that shyte when Ali was being called 3x undisputed champion, despite the fact that he never lost his WBA title in the ring.
