It's crazy that one of the greatest modern boxers started out at 15.

Fury and Dubois had soccer mom type dads who had them training hard from a young age.

I said this was going to be Calzaghe-Lacey all over again. Of course Barrera-Naseem is the other classic parallel.

24-0 with 15 of those of those victories being title fights. Enjoy it now, boys. This guy is gonna retire undefeated soon and will certainly be missed from boxing.

Fury didn't really take up boxing till he was about 14 and when you're MASSIVE at that age it's very hard to spar. Usyk was just late to the pro's... but regardless even if he started earlier he didn't miss out on anything which you tend to see.

Pretty sure all the groomed fighters from about 8 years old have all had lame careers or wasted their talent. Gervonta Davis good example.

It is interesting as I think it's specific to fighting sports (in other sports its pretty much mandatory for reaching elite level that you start early). In fighting there's certain innate characteristics that can't be taught.

Like Loma and Floyd had the perfect upbringings to become elite level boxers. Therefore both had atg level skills but still didn't have the GOAT trait that Usyk has, which is the ability to go toe to toe with bigger killers and actually hurt them.

Plus there's the factor of getting hit in the head too early making your brain less fresh than someone who starts at around puberty.
