Usyk The Greatest Southpaw Heavyweight In History?

I think it's disingenuous to say what you said about Usyk's heavyweight resume. He beat Joshua and Fury, and not just by the skin of his teeth. Despite a huge size and weight disadvantage and being older than the pair of them, he beat them clearly. And I just don't like how Usyk was supposed to be exposed by next fighter he faces and when it never happens, most people who predicted him losing never eat a big enough humble pie (not talking about you). I mean, just go back and see the majority of posts here, on Reddit, on YouTube, or whatever before the first Joshua fight. Even 90% of the panel of experts at The Ring Magazine voted for Joshua to win in dominant fashion (19 guys out of 22). When he beat him, it was "meh, AJ has always been this robotic garbage anyway." But wait for Fury! He will show there's levels to this game and there are weight classes for a reason! Now Usyk beat him so badly that Fury was more hurt than he ever was in the ring and ended up with a broken nose, bruised ribs, and a massive concussion that made him think it was December 2023. And now he is a "dog s..t fighter" along with Joshua.

You talk about overhype yet the contrary is true for Usyk. He is still massively underrated and not acknowledged properly for what he has achieved. There is always the next guy who is supposed to expose him. All the time before the Briedis, Gassiev, Bellew, Chisora, Joshua, and Fury fights, we were told how the next guy would expose the overhyped Usyk. And after months or even years of listening to the same "Usyk will be exposed badly" prophecies, when he ended up winning, the reaction from the same people was always something like "meh, whatevs" and they were on to the bandwagon of the next fighter who was going to beat the gappy teeth midget. I don't mean you personally, but it's so cowardly what these people do. Months and years of predicting this big massacre that will leave Usyk battered, bruised, and beat, and when they spectacularly fail with their predictions, it's just "meh, whatevs" all the time. So lame, so cowardly.

Usyk has beaten 4 top 10 guys at heavyweight so far, and he beat them all up. He could have stopped Chisora, but chose not to. Joshua was seconds away from being knocked out. Dubois was made to quit; he was battered so badly in four rounds. And Fury was definitely KO'd, but a corrupt referee saved him. Not bad from a pillow fisted middleweight who is always supposed to be exposed, just you wait for his next opponent.

Trust me, there will be a time, maybe ten or twenty years from now, but there will be a time when you won't believe how you were unable to recognise that you were witnessing an absolute ATG in Usyk. His resume is not extensive enough yet, and due to his age, it will never be, but in terms of skills, talent, movement, ring IQ, etc., he is up there with the likes of Ali, easily.

 

Get it straight: Bowe-Holyfield I > Usyk-Fury

Usyk fans will probably feel slighted at that, it seems to me. Fury is a big bully slob.

 

Nah, I don't rate him that hight to be honest
His opponents are awful and in his prime struggled with Briedis

Slow your roll on Balboa. Remember that he had a shameful 44 wins with 20 losses before fighting Apollo, who was looking for a hand-picked easy opponent for the 1976 bicentennial event. So P4P or whatever you want to call it, Balboa had no ranking whatsoever. He was considered a 'bum' by the average guy (or girl) on the street (video evidence to support this).

This would be the appropriate time to bring up some out of the ring issues: this 'bum' Balboa also allegedly rap@d Adrian in his apartment, as she was probably the first and only girl he seduced into his no-class apartment. Video evidence shows he locked the door so she couldn't escape, and ignored her pleas to leave. Didn't even give her the courtesy and respect of talking advantage of her on his bed; this neanderthal did his business with her on the floor that hadn't been mopped in months. This is our 'beloved Rocky'.

He then fights Apollo and loses, clearly. Surprise, another loss. Apollo's weak mentality allowed for Balboa to get a rematch, and Balboa won by the skin of his teeth. Some (including me) call it a win for Apollo as the last double KD was a long count, and it should have gone to the cards where Apollo would have still been champ.

Then Balboa's wily old Mickey, not seeing greatness and P4P status in his fighter, essentially gave him 10 easy hand-picks (this is on recorded video!), padding his record to 55-21.

So our 'great' southpaw HW champ then finally fights the first guy with a pulse, who proceeds to Knock the Ever Living Sh!t out of him in the second round! While we're at it, and some people will have tried to forget history, but Lang also had KO-1 (yes, minus 1, like Godzilla) against Apollo the same night!, where everyone knew Apollo lost badly in that pre-fight exchange (showing that Balboa's win over Apollo wasn't probably as special as some made it out to be). Yeah, Balboa got the win in the rematch, but some could argue that Lang wasn't properly focused for it.

The fight between Balboa and the russian amateur was essentially an unsanctioned match, so doesn't even count. Same with Tommy Gunn in the streets, and with Dixon later on.

So in short, Usyk > Balboa

 

The same Frazier who was knocked down by Mike Bruce, a twice by Bonevena?

The same Tyson who was fumbling for his mouthpiece in Tokyo against career fringe contender James Buster Douglas?

Those guys were great, but c'mon. They had their ups and downs. Usyk is now one of the pantheon and it is no longer on the table to declare that anyone would "break" him. Win or lose, he'd be a long night for anyone.
