The one judge who had it 5-2 to Bellew was clearly on the payroll of someone. Thats not even in the ball park of how the fight was going, and would have made it impossible for Usyk to get a UD had there been no knock downs and had it gone to the cards.
UK judging standards is at an all time low & corruption is at an all time high. Unless the British Boxing board of control get fingers out of certain places, then this is going to harm the income and interest in the sport in the medium to long term. 5-2 to Bellew is a true WTF moment up there with the worst we have seen in the USA and Germany. Thats brown paper bag scoring of a fight for me.
I had it 4-3 Usyk and a case could be made for it being level going into the 8th. Rd1: 10-9 B Rd2: 10-9 B Rd3: 10-9 B Rd4: 9-10 U (Could of been 10-10) Rd5: 9-10 U Rd6: 9-10 U Rd7: 9-10 U Rd8: Highlight Reel KO - Usyk I commented on the general during round 5 that Bellew was starting to move A LOT, could also see his shots were slowing and Usyk was finding it easier to land. Having watched both of there previous fights back this week, I knew what was likely to come. After round 5 is when I could clearly see the momentum had shifted.
5-2 Usyk for me. Bellew was doing well but looked to be in survival mode after round 3. Was always only a matter of time.
fairly easy to score RD1: Bellew RD2: Bellew RD3: 10-10 (only one fairly difficult to pick, Usyk found his range in this round but Bellew still landed some good punches) RD4-7: Usyk Usyk never once looked out of control. He did look like Bellew was offering more than he expected, but he dictated the pace from the outset, and forced Bellew to fight at a pace he couldn't sustain. the first few rounds he did what he usually does, sets the pace and begins working you out. He outlanded Bellew in every round except the 1st, and as soon as he adjusted and started looping his left hand in instead throwing it staright down the pipe, the fight was only going and ending one way. Good effort from Bellew however, and he can go out with his head held high
Wasn't really actively scoring at all, because I didn't really expect Bellew to be able to make it competitive. Started to pay more attention when the fight was already well underway, and could see Bellew up at that point but Usyk was already taking over. With wthe dynamic of the fight I could see a case for Bellew to be up by a point after 7, but 5-2 as one of the judges had it clearly doesn't mirror what was taking place in the ring.
My card 1 Even 2 Bellew 3 Even 4-7 Usyk 8 Usyk clear round before stoppage These judges and Sky commentators really need sacked. Bellew hardly layed a glove on Usyk all night but anytime a punch was thrown and missed the target, Adam Smith's voice rose above the crowd. Bellew was simply not engaging much at all moving body all over the place to get out of range - all this negative movement wore him out. Usyk had too much class in and out of the ring with this fight being a very easy night's work.
You only need 1 judge in your pocket and a draw is a very real possibility ...or at least a split decision perhaps triggering a rematch..... UK judging and referees are now as bad if not worse than anywhere....its no wonder Yanks wont come over
There have been some shockers but it Hasn't bothered Errol spence, Gervonta Davis,Wlad, Linares and Usyk coming over in the last couple of years. Fighters follow the £££. I'd hazard a guess there's crap judging and refs under almost every commission in the game.
The refs do appear very biased towards the home fighters all over the world - brown paper bags would appear to be very popular in many global destinations
