Usyk v Bellew to be confirmed today?

why? even at CW Eddie thinks the HW sanctioning bodies will rate him high and could be in line for a mand. shot at HW next year...

 

It was a real shocker for me. I'd not heard he was ill or anything. I've recently been reading excerpts from his autobiography. What he did with Joe was amazing. I'll always remember the old shack they trained in. Joe will obviously be absolutely devastated. My heart goes out to him.

My favourite story of his, is what Joe recounted a few years ago. Joe said that when he was on Mike Tyson's undercard, Enzo shouted at Mike to smile as he was looking miserable. I'm sure you've heard it. But I could envisage him saying it. He was a great character.

This. I would have preferred to see him against a top 15 HW, this fight only delays his path to Joshua. He turns 32 in January; he should aim to fight Joshua by fall 2020 at the latest.

 

I'm torn, can't pick a side.

Usyk already has a WBO mando against Joshua. I imagine if Bellew wins it'd transfer to him. I thought that was what made this fight interesting. Neither one of these guys needs to fight each other to get a shot at the title. Look at the WBO rankings and remember Pov's about to drop or be the new champ. Plenty of easier targets for both men. Usyk is risking a guarantee at the WBO HW title on top of his undisputed CW crown and Bellew is taking probably the toughest route to a HW title available to him. It's admirable on both fronts which is the main reason I can't pick a side.

 

It really is a great fight for both men, even if it doesn't end up being close on the cards. Still I will not count Tony out, he has a real chance here.
