The Ruiz fights are an irrelevance here. It’s not hard to learn to box on the outside against a fat pudding like Ruiz. Also Joshua had Ruiz floored and badly hurt in the first fight. Unlike the Usyk fight Joshua actually had real success in the first Ruiz fight and so making the small adjustments to win was far more practicable then. When you have a boxer as cerebral and technically gifted as Usyk when he gets two bites of the cherry at one fighter, you can guarantee that Usyk will have a better understanding of what he needs to do to not only repeat the victory but to stop AJ this time. As others have said Joshua’s best chance is to go for the KO. I think it will be unsuccessful. There’s always the chance he just needs to go 12 and land a robbery decision and that’s why I’m sure Usyk will stop him this time. One thing for sure is that unlike Rice Pudding Andy, Usyk isn’t going to eat himself to the size of a small planet and party non stop. He is fully focused on unification so he won’t drop the ball like pudding Ruiz.
It would be great wouldn't it. Unfortunately most of the heavyweights have been brainwashed into thinking they are worth massive a bag Pay Per View loot for every fight. We need to get rid of snake promoters, have a league like other sports, and match the best against the best, but I fear that horse has long since bolted.
But that's just the point , he wasn't or won't be able just to unload on usyk he isn't going to be there to hit clean, people need to realise that joshua isn't up to the task, there is no shame in that but it won't be any different from Wilder trying to unload on Fury, in the end they will just be countered and stopped most likely. Joshua is mentally done!!
Joshua made the adjustments required to outbox Ruiz and not get dragged into a fight. This shows that he can make changes, and has the discipline to do it. Ruiz conditioning is neither here or there. Joshua will do the same for Usyk, wether those changes work, we will see. But we do know Joshua will make adjustments and change tactics, if need be, in the rematch, as he has done it before. Imo, this makes the rematch as good as the first fight.
Normally ofc only choice: to go for early KD and hope one Eddie judges cards or british stoppage. Usyk isn't dumb, he already had used for sparring dudes a bit larger and heavier than A.J was vs Ruiz and Pulev. Joshua will do, Joshua will do and Joushua will do, sure. Nothing Joshua will do without aunt eddie, even short notice shot euro level Takam he was able to do only with british stoppage. Yeah, Joushua alredy had NOT DONE if AWAY corner lads vere NOT ENOUGH _____________OLD. This here is reality. On Eddie cards he already had won rematch, hometown ref too is ready.
Hope Usyk gets to defend his titles in the Ukraine, won't be this fight, but the man deserves it. Usyk wins far more comfortably this time round. All we need now is for Whyte to slip up end of October and it really is game changed.
If anything Usyk is the the one who could jump on AJ from the get go and get him out of there early. On Saturday the very first thing he did was walk straight to the centre of the ring and smack AJ with a back hand with seemingly effortless ease. And AJ certainly felt it too. I think Usyk now knows he didn't need to show AJ the amount of respect he did and while AJ can improve, Usyk is the one who can improve more. So other than a punch from the gods, there is no way AJ can win. He gets schooled and stopped in the rematch.
I think Joshua has to give it a real go early doors otherwise he has little chance of besting Usyk. If it’s early next year I can see it being at the O2. April time it might be at Cardiff/Wembley.
Just watched Eddie Hearn’s IFL post mortem of the show and AJ’s defeat , seems super confident that AJ can do the business in the return. I love optimism but like the majority I don’t see Joshua being able to make the improvements required to win . Issues with his chin gas tank means he is in a do or die scenario which he has 4 rounds top to get Usyk out of there ! Not good odds
