Joshua's best chance of beating Usyk would be to do his best version of Furys approach in 2nd Wilder fight. Usyk and Wilder obviously both have contrasting styles overall, but like Wilder, if you can get Usyk going backward you will get success imo. Then do what Fury done, clinch and push him, wrestle him, lean on him to weaken him. I also think Joshua should aim for the body and arms, bigger target. If he head hunts v Usyk, its like pissing in the wind. If Joshua hit his arms the wsy Canelo did Callum Smith its only a matter of time till it affected Usyk.
Was this just for fun then? This content is protected Tyson Fury was on a windup? The fight was happening, it was done. Listening to Usyk's manager talking how easy it was to make the fight with AJ tells me they don't put up many roadblocks to make it difficult. No issues which would have delayed the process and the wbo putting the fight to purse bids.
Breaking news on BBC Sports Website - Warden 'expects' Tyson Fury's next fight after Wilder to be in the UK Will believe when the ringwalk starts
Joshua tried jabbing Usyk to the body but he evaded it beautifully. Usyk is perhaps more evasive than Callum Smith.
Congratulations for sorting out a mandatory defence. It's a pity Hearn didn't do that for Josh Warrington - he didn't even put in a purse bid. You keep wanting to congratulate Hearn for making Joshua V Fury. Do you want us to congratulate Joshua for a resounding win?
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/boxing/47280228 - reckons the ESPN deal (after Wilder I) was for five fights. That covers Schwarz, Wallin, Wilder II and Wilder III. Unless the BBC were wrong, or there was a time limit on the deal, then the fifth would be in the US too. That said: assuming Fury and Whyte both win this month, the WBC will surely call the mandatory in. It's difficult to imagine that bout taking place in Las Vegas - it has Manchester Arena written all over it.
Yes he is. But im not talking of thrieing single little jabs, im talking of throwing bunches of punches, including power shots and hooks into the body. Can hardly remember Joshua throwing in bunches and when he did a little in middle rounds he had his best period in the fight.
He should look at the David Avanesyan fight on Sat, throw all he has in the first 4 rounds and throw in the towel if he cannot make a huge dent in Usyk.
I agree on going for it early but not throwing in towel if its not working. But only chance he has is slowing Usyk down and then capitalising. Personally in rematch i have it 90/10 in Usyks favour unless he is fiddled. Think Joshua is scared of being hurt and wont do what he needs to have a chance of winning.
That fight was stopped by the Wilder rematch clause. Joshua and Hearn had the opportunity to make the Fury fight before on several occasions. After the first Fury-Wilder fight in December 2018, Frank and Fury were willing to make a deal for April 13th 2019 at Wembley. Eddie Hearn sent them a flat-fee offer, which roughly equated to 40%. Frank and Fury responded stating that 50% would get Tyson's signature and Eddie never got back to them. Hearn also had the opportunity to sign Fury as a fighter for his comeback, Tyson wanted 4 warm-up fights and 50-50 with AJ. Eddie wasn't willing to offer him that.
Wilder: I took less money to fight Fury rather than take more money and unify with AJ. Some people on this board: AJ ducked Wilder.
Joshua can plod for 12 rounds to another defeat or simply empty his tank in 4 rounds then quit - throw everything he has until he can throw no more. The latter is his only chance.
Dont agree on quitting. If it means corner pulling him out or he is stopped, fine. But he should not quit.
