Tyson was a force of nature and on his night he was capable of beating any man who ever lived. Usyk's brand of Ukrainian slickness coupled with his Cossack toughness is next level though. That's a tough one This content is protected
Tyson only ever fought two top guys in Holyfield and Lewis and lost to them both. Tyson never faced a Russian or Ukrainian in his life. Tyson was only world champ when the biggest forces in boxing couldn't turn pro.
Povetkin is also 5" taller than Tyson too. Povetkin is around the same height and size of opponent Tyson used to face. And no, they don't have similar styles unless you count throwing punches as a 'similar style.
The reach difference is literally just 3 inches between the two. Pretty negligible. Povetkin, like Tyson also fights opponents most of the time much bigger in size, height and reach than him. Why does Tyson's style lend to short primes, but Povetkin's style doesn't?
There was a smallish heavyweight who had a style similar to Usyk where he just used movement and pitty pats to outwork bigger fighters, and that was Michael Spinks. He was undefeated and highly rated forr boxing ability and how did that work out against Tyson. If you don't have a super jab, power to get his attention, or the size, then you have nothing for Tyson in his prime.
