Counterpunch Boxing News If Usyk beats AJ in their rematch the WBC have told him he can make a volunteery defense against anybody in their top 15, Wilder is the most lucrative fight out of that top 15, will we see Usyk v Wilder if Usyk beats AJ, and who would win that match? Sorry, am I missing something... Joshua v Usyk is for the WBA, WBO and IBF. What has the WBC got to do with anything?
Wilder has to prove himself with a victory. Someone like Parker, Whyte, even Ruiz who is probably the easiest to make the fight with.
The Fury fight is a long way away cause of his problems with the Whyte fight, Fury is going to fight someone in March before he eventually takes on Whyte, if Usyk beats AJ, then Wilder will be the next biggest payday out there.
No Wilder`s stock is far higher than Ruiz`s after his performance v Fury compared to Ruiz`s sloppy display in his last fight, Wilder is a bigger name than Parker, Ruiz and Whyte, plus Whyte is tied up with Fury.
Cleared the way for what? I think it is a slow news day for Curt, he is just riffing on something that isn't even relevant. The WBC literally have no say on Usyk's opponents. The only way that is relevant is if the WBC are threatening to stop unification because they would call two back to back mandatory challengers: first Whyte, then Wilder. There is no mention of that, not that it would even happen. Pointless video by Curt Deville
This is what needs to happen in 2022. Early 2022: Fury V Whyte Usyk V Joshua Late 2022: Fury V Usyk Joshua V Wilder This is what will happen; Early 2022: Fury V Helenius Usyk V Joshua Late 2022: Fury V Whyte Joshua and Usyk take the rest of the year off.
Hes a top 5 heavyweight as far as popularity goes. Who else would Usyk fight that would generate more revenue than Wilder besides fury?
