Vitali was beating Lewis before he got cut and Usyk has more head movement and angles than Vitali showed, he would have won, Lewis got hit a lot in that fight.
Usyk beating AJ is impressive an all but this is Lewis we are talking about, I wouldn't pick him over Vitali let alone Lewis even that faded Lewis. I don't think it would be an easy fight though, Usyk is special but right now he's not done enough at heavyweight to seriously favour him over a great who's ranked by most as among the top 5 heavies of all time.
Probably Usyk UD That version Lewis was overweight, slower, sloppy as crap and had a bad gas tank but that Lewis still knew how to turn it into a dogfight so he gives Usyk a much harder time than that low iq clown Joshua Prime Lewis definitely wins though
If Lewis somehow got off to a bad start like AJ did, Lewis would dig deep make the fight ugly and just start to maul him. AJ opened up a pretty good gash, Lewis would have put his face through the wood chipper, and punished the body in clinches. I wouldn't even rule out Lewis being able to box safely from the outside. This is ain't Usyk vs AJ, this is Lennox Lewis, a tactical genius in his own right. In Summary the worst version of Lewis is better than AJ. No slag on AJ. AJ is a good fighter too, but Lewis is a top tier ATG.
Joshua did open up a big gash. Has Lewis did that he would've sensed blood, put Usyk under relentless pressure, definitely would've made it as unpleasant as possible for Usyk and for sure would've went to the body
Lewis was physically slowing down and being really picky choosy with his opposition. He notably avoided his IBF mandatory southpaw Chris Byrd, preferring to dump the belt rather than fight him. I think Usyk beats him.
I think Lewis would get it done Yes Usyk would box well and win rounds, but Lewis wasn't afraid to get stuck in if the fight was going away from him and we all know he has a great jab I think any version of Lewis has too much for Usyk and we shouldn't get too ahead of ourselves because of beating the gun shy Aj in a pure boxing match Lewis is a boxer, but he can also fight and a big strong man with bundles of experience by the time he fought Vitali. Sure he had a lot of miles of the clock, but Usyk has had hundreds of amateur fights and is no spring chicken Lewis comes from behind to force a late stoppage or more likely to win on points in a competitive fight Not a fight I would want to risk a substantial sum of money on, but I would back Lennox
Lewis was marginally outboxed by the poor man’s AJ Frank Bruno before Bruno’s chin and gas tank predictably gave out in 7, was outboxed by pre-prime contender Vitali 4-2 over 6 before the fight was stopped on cuts and Lewis couldn't beat 10 of his opponents inside the distance (Ocasio, Billups, washed Tucker, McCall 1, Mercer, Mavrovic, old Holyfield 1, old Holyfield 2, Tua, Rahman 1) with roughly half of his 44 opponents being bums. Usyk has an excellent chin, speed, agility, engine and holistic defence, so he very likely joins the ranks of the survivors. Manny Steward stated that Wlad was a superior athlete to Lewis, had more punching power and was better in most technical respects: the same Wlad who Usyk was able to “boss” and “twist up” in sparring. Lewis would try to bring the fight to Usyk after being outboxed but he wasn't a better inside fighter than Mercer who he really drew with; a warhorse fringe contender roughly on par with Usyk-victim Chisora. Lewis would be led onto counters and fatigue trying to chase the much faster, more agile and defensively skilled Usyk around the ring. Lewis lost 3-4 rounds by consensus to a 37 year old small cruiser Holyfield who had been KO’d by a faded Bowe 4 years prior and was on the cusp of losing to John Ruiz. To top it all off, Lewis never fought a southpaw of any note in his career and never fought a mover above Euro level, while undefeated road warrior Usyk dominated prime modern elite SHW A-side AJ in AJ’s backyard. Usyk is the best of the best as a southpaw and a mover, so Lewis probably struggles even more than Wlad did, who had more experience sparring and fighting good southpaw HW's than any other HW in history. Usyk wins on points or by late stoppage (if Lewis didn’t duck).
Joshua shows up ill prepared with an abysmal fight plan and possibly so little confidence at this point that he should retire. and now the Usyk over rating goes through the roof. Usyk has no punch power at HW. Lennox Lewis has as good movement and world class power. He'd beat Usyk in a walk. Fury will beat Usyk in a walk and he'd lose badly to Lewis.
