The article posted looks to me like possibly an inflated gross amount, before tax and expenses such as training and staff.

After all of the tax and expenses I would guess that Bellew made £600k-750k from the Usyk fight. Bellew himself in the post fight interview said he made £500k from the Usyk fight.

Usyk probably made slightly more than that, as I would expect the split to be 55-45 in his favour.

Bellew made more from either than the Haye fights than he did from the Usyk fight.

That article seems way off. I reckon they would have been estimating the pot to be £4m as Usyk was unknown in PPV. Once expenses and undercard are paid I reckon even at 50/50 they probably cleared £1.5m each. As they probably estimated it on 250,000 buys and if it does well both guys make more. Can’t see Usyk fighting for much less as he just won a fortune from WBSS.

    Perhaps 1.5 million gross

You then have training team pay, and training costs including accomodation

You also have tax. Thats 40% for everything over 46k & 45% over 150k.

So a fair chunk of that goes in tax. Even on 1 million gross after all staff and expenses, he is clearing around 550-600k of that.

I'm not sure Bellew is telling the truth about the £500k pay. I think it is more.

agreed! I think Bellew downplays by talking what he wals away with. Everyone usually talks about gross.

Bellew will not be paying 40% or 45% tax, he would have set up a Limited Company years ago.

Then he can just funnel money out of this into property investments tax free via director loans.

Sorry to be a complete borebag but don't director's loans get taxed under a s455 charge? Think the company gets taxed 32.5% on amounts lent to director's

There are numerous ways around all of that.

Look at how little tax corporations like Facebook and Google pay in relation to their UK sales, plus the recent Panama papers case.

Bellew will be getting the best financial advice available.

He has, he has got £3,000,000 owed to debtors as of 2017's accounts which will be the director himself. With £2m in retained funds so he will be funelling the funds out over a number of years and this does not take into account the second Haye fight and Usyk fight. The accounts looks to me like he took in £2m for the first Haye fight.

    Very very healthy balance sheet.

Matchroom really did do well by him.

£2m profit in those accounts and that's after tax and dividends so his pretax profit could be anything from 2.4m upwards.

Bellew would probably have got slightly more. He had the support base.

That explains why he and Haye are the best of friends now :)

Good luck to Bellew he made the Haye and Usyk fights happen.
