Agree about his mindset, you even saw it during his entrance the crowd was huge and booing him and he seemed like he was waiting for a bus or something he was so calm. He has probably never fought in front of such a vocal and large crowd but it didn't effect him at all.

He does a lot of mental focus training as a part of his training and you can see that in how laser focused he was last night, the man is unshakable.

In my mind, a competitive boxing match or marathon is one where at the END of the event, it was close. Not at a certain stage.

If a football match is 0-0 at half time, but ends 4-0. I don't say that was a competitive game. From round 6-7 Usyk was landing whatever he wanted, and Bellew was done. A boxing match which is one sided, stops being "competitive" by the midway point and ends in a brutal ko isn't that competitive in my opinion.

rewatching it now and i think youre on to something, i guess it was the emotion and hype on the night, in the cold hard daylight, bellew wasnt really landing as much as i thought.

The fact you said it stops being competitive means it was competitive before. So technically it was competitive up to a point but then not. Bellew was competitive for a few rounds or so but then he was out classed and not competitive over the full distance.

Thats the thing. Bellew won the first, second and maybe the third round (i had him winning it) BUT he won them because Usyk didn't throw much and not because he was rocking Usyk with right hands and body shots. Those shots had 0% effect on Usyk. Well calculated serial killer performance by Usyk.

The 4th was fulling of showboating from bellew because he was getting regularly and couldnt land anything. 2-2 right now, i thought i had it 3-1 on the night for bellew, the third is close but uysk landed the crispier stuff, including a great step back left counter that stunned bellew.

3-2 Uysk who is loose and flowing peppering bellew with the jab, tony is tiring and out of ideas. From here on out its all Uysk if i remember correctly.

I was expecting the outcome, I had £4 on a round 8 stoppage and won a life changing £48!!! It took Usyk longer than I thought it would to find his range and rhythm though. After last night I'm not on the hype train yet regarding his HW campaign. He will struggle to get in and out of range against bigger opponents like Joshua and Wilder without being countered, he has a fantastic jab, but I'd like to see how effective it would be against a bigger man. I'm holding judgment until he fights a decent HW, Whyte would be a good test.

6th round bellew came out better landed a few nice right hands body and head, hes struggling with his stamina but he came out throwing, uysk didnt dominate this round but landed some nice jabs. Could have gone either way, i liked bellews later work. bellew was wobbled on the bell? but it looked more off balance, i didnt even see uysks punch land.

    3-3 right now.

Tony Bellew is retired now. That's the important thing. And it was in a brilliant fashion.

4-3 Uysk walked down bellew the whole round with nothing coming back, easy won the round with the jab jolting tonys head back.

Why wasn't Usyk throwing, had he fallen asleep? Was he being charitable and giving Bellew a few rounds before putting him out of his misery?

Uysk didn't throw much for 2 reasons. Firstly Bellew was trying to set him up for the counter and so Usyk couldn't just let his hands go. Secondly Usyk very importantly chose not to throw, he could of chosen to abandon defence and risk being caught coming in and take a shot to land a shot, kind of like when he fought Breidis.

Fact is neither of them were in control in those early rounds, neither could dictate the fight on their own terms. Bellew try as he might couldn't walk Usyk into a big counter and Usyk couldn't just walk in and dominate him like usual. What I've described here is a competitive round. Neither man in control, neither man having everything their own way. Simply put competitive.
