Interesting stuff. Briedis is top shelf and I’m not the least bit surprised how certain idiots are trying to make it seem like Usyk was EXPOSED and “Won’t cut it at HW” do to having a competitive fight with MB. It’s beyond stupid.

and Kudos to Usyk, Bredis, Gassiev, and ("cool ranch") Dorticos for stepping up and participating in this tournament.

the champions from all four major sanctioning bodies participated in the CW tournament

    no divas, all warriors

contrast that with the SMW tournament: just one of the four belt-holders is participating (Groves, who has the WBA strap). Degale (IBF, though lost to Caleb Truax after the tournament began), Gilberto Ramirez (WBO), and David Benavidez (WBC) all declined to participate in the SMW tournament

Truly spoken! I wouldnt be surprised if the old german geezer Braehmer wins the tournament.

The only name I would have liked to see in the cruiser tournament is Denis Lebedev, and Glowaki deserved a spot far more than Huck IMO.Anyway! In terms of quality and names the cruisers are head and shoulders above the counterparts at super middle.

I scored it a draw round by round, but I agree with the win by Usyk.
Great matchup and I hope we'll get a rematch.

I'm really refreshed to see at least in this case the loser is getting credit instead of the majority bagging the winner for struggling against the B-side when the fight was between two people who are A-sides in any CW fight and unfortunately someone had to lose. There has been a lot of that criticism going on where it shouldn't be and too much obsession with the "0".

I totally agreed with the judges score cards, and this "1" will hopefully actually add to Briedis's stock.

    Very well said!

I guess the fact that the fight itself was clearly top class entertainment helps people recognize that both are elite fighters.

They shouldn’t be worries per-say however they can be concerns that should be addressed proactively. With the right team that understands how maneuver within the system he can get himself in the right position to be successful because he’s proven he has the ability in the ring. Still I don’t envision him having the strength to really survive at the top level despite any chemical enhancements you allude to. Of course we don’t need to see eye to eye with that. I still recall how you adamantly stated I wouldn’t want to have a discussion with you in person (still unsure as to why you were so rude and dismissive at the idea of it) is it that difficult to converse with someone who’s perspective differs from your own?

I’m assuming we will all find out in due time if he has the ability to grab a strap at heavyweight, for now it’s all speculation. The irony here for me is whenever I’m faced with the ever present and prevalent preferential treatment and nepotism that goes on in my industry I find ways to infiltrate, adapt and conform when necessary. I’m never looking for a peice of the pie I plot to bake and distribute the whole pie myself.

    Stay thirsty my friends.

Bring in more WBSS I say! Brilliant tournament so far. The SMWs haven't been too bad either. Regarding going up in to heavyweight I say "why not" to all of them. The money is up there. It's not too big a jump, and for me they are packing much more skill than some of the lumps. Though I do think there could be some interesting match up for all at CW. With they exposure they have had from the tournament why not Dorticos v usyk Gassiev v Briedis. Would be cracking fights.

No doubt about it. Probably the only time I won't is if the boxer on the losing side is an out and out cherry picking hype job. Ones who prize their bull **** 0s and have friendly media backing. (Mainly American or Mexican darlings but I'm sure that will change as boxing round the world gets bigger)

When asked (by a Ukrainian journalist) about the Briedis rematch, Usyk said:
"If he got someone who will pay for this fight, the amount that will suit me — fine, I'll box him once again with pleasure. I'm ready to fight anywhere (they can choose any location). It's business, you know — no hustle, no profit."
