Bowe TKO3. Just because Usyk beat Joshua doesn't mean he can compete with any other heavyweight in history.
I've always compared Joshua to Bowe but Bowe is obviously better. Both big guys, both don't move very well, good but not great jabs, good on the inside for big men. Bowe's at his best when smaller guys come to him, he's not so great when having to chase due to his slow feet as we saw vs Tubbs, Biggs, Hide, Golota and Holyfield in their 2nd fight. I think Usyk's movement will give Bowe fits, he'll struggle to pin him down, get out boxed from range despite being the bigger man as he's out maneuvered. But I do think Bowe can press far better than AJ and his style is more about getting up close than Joshua's. Usyk will have a far tougher time vs Bowe. But styles makes fights and Usyk has the style to beat Bowe. If Holyfield can out box him then so can Usyk and Usyk won't get embroiled in a brawl like Holyfield did in his 2 losing efforts vs Bowe. Usyk wins a decision.
Bowe KO. He wouldn't be gun shy and he can take a shot. He can also try to make it a close range fight using his size. He can fight well at close range.
It's one dimensional. He has a good even great ramrod heavy jab but that's it's there more to a good jab than having a hard jab. He couldn't control range with it well and we saw guys like Biggs and Golota jab his head off when he matched jabs with them. A great jab for me is more than just a hard jab, you've got to be able to control range with it, create openings with it, make your opponent move into other shots with it, there's so much more than just hitting hard with a jab. Bowe's jab is simply overrated. Compare how Lewis in fight 1 just completely shut down Holyfield with the jab, even in fight 2 in the rounds where he pumped the jab, Holyfield couldn't get to Lewis. Bowe in contrast could never keep Holyfield on the end of his jab, partly that was his jab, partly that was his slow feet. He even got out boxed by the far smaller Holyfield for periods in fight 2. So yeah his jab isn't great.
Bowe is known for having a very good jab. Its neither overrated nor underrated. If you want to compare jabs , firstly acknowledge that Bowe fought the best versions of Evander that ever stepped into the ring. . Lewis fought a Holyfield that was slowing down and nearing the end of his prime. So lets look at the facts. In both fights Lewis had with faded Holyfield , he failed to land at a higher connect % of jabs than Bowe did in his first fight with Holyfield. Bowe landed jabs with an above average connect rate of 53%. . Lewis wasn't far behind with a connect rate of 51% , but again they fought different versions of Evander. Bowe fought Evander when he was an extremely alethic and constant moving target. The rematch is even more damming for Lewis as he landed a pitiful 76 jabs with a 33% connect rate over 12 rounds. Riddick Bowe in the rubber match landed 65 jabs with a 45% connect rate and that fight only went 8 rounds. Lewis also used the clinch a lot to fend off Holyfield whereas Bowe used nothing but his fists to fight off Holyfield on the outside and on the inside. Those jab stats in fight 2 indicate how much Lewis had to hold and clinch an aging Evander. Lewis got his head jabbed off by Bruno and had to turn the fight into a street brawl to get him out of there. He got completely out jabbed by Ray Mercer who he couldn't control the range against.. Mercer landed jabs on Lewis at a 60% connect rate.. Thats almost unheard of..
Couldn't have said better, Holyfield was spent even in the first Lewis match. Those Bowe - Holyfield matches took so much from both men.
Bowe got beaten lots of times by a former cruiserweight steroid bomb. Bowe's inside game is too good, Usyk wouldn't take risk and outbox him. Usyk by UD.
How many of these anti-Usyk posts can you put out in one day? Bowe was getting battered by Golota, who is nowhere near as good as Usyk.
Im not anti-Usyk, I love the dude, skillful fighter and amazing personality. But I won't accept the nut huggers here overrating him, ESPECIALLY you.
some maybe overrating him, but he is least overrated compared to ali, tyson, wilder , fury, canelo, crowford, spence , possibly bowe and other “golden” era juicers . Usyk won it all on the road , while canelo for example always has judges, was caught juicing , he lost some fights , but was awarded UD.
