I thought it was low but not cripplingly so. Definitely too much time taken afterward. Nevertheless, Usyk dominated and was the better man.

He needs to quit doing his Sven Ottke impersonation by crying to the referee so much, tho.

Infact that looks slightly lower than Dubois's punch.

Third repost of this so apologies but I think it's relevant.

I think people are focusing on the final placement of the glove, but I think it finds its final placement higher than it hits Usyk, and gives the impression it was a legitimate shot.

This still from a millisecond before the punch lands shows where Usyks bellybutton should roughly be. I think it's reasonable to assume it's roughly in the middle of his belts symbol, if not a little bit higher.

This is almost the initial impact. I actually think there might have been very hard to see glancing that happened even lower but this is at least where the real initial force lands.

This is clearly low to me. D's entire knuckle line in his glove would be well below Usyks bellybutton here, and would be mostly beneath the mid belt line.

In fact to me his knuckle line clearly actually hits Usyks actual trunks here.

That screenshot is the point of impact, the only thing that matters, and imo, it's clearly low.

Now, the final resting place that gives the impression this is arguable, is here...

But this placement is irrelevant and people need to slow it down frame by frame and see where that shot initially hits Usyk.

Watch from the other angle and you can see clearly that punch landed on the belt line. If you’re looking to “prove” either way you can, but when you just watch the video, you can see that punch landed on the belt line, respectfully.

Are you talking about the angle from the backside?

Khan's punch was very similar to Dubois punch on Usyk. They were both uppercuts, they both landed at about the same area on belt-line. Khan's may have been slightly lower on the belt-line, but about the same area, more centered of course, but the difference is that Khan's shot didn't actually land flush into the stomach area of Judah. It just sort of just bounced off the belt-line without appearing to really impact Judah's body much. He didn't follow through like Dubois did, Dubois's uppercut landed hard through the belt-line which obviously hurt Usyk. While Emanuel Steward stated he thought Khan's punch on Judah was technically illegal, Harold Lederman made the opposing argument, he considered it a legal shot.

So this reinforces how a punch like that is very borderline and open to interpretation, even amongst experienced stewards of the sport.

I assume so, the one that was posted in one of the other threads. Look man I’m not a Usyk hater and certainly not a Dubois fan, I’m also not claiming Usyk wouldn’t have got up etc. All I’m saying is that this shot isn’t low in the context of most other fight in most other situations. I’m not gonna “any” but I’m saying it was a fortunate break…a “gift” if you will, but as I’ve said he’s not the first or the last. Acknowledging he got a break isn’t that big of a deal.

Not to beat a dead horse here man, I'm not pursuing this to be 'right', I'm actually genuinely intrigued at the nature of the disagreement here.

If you could just bear with me a little bit more, can I just repost this and you tell me which part of this do you view as wrong?

The thing about angles is, if one angle that's from dead on the front and clear as day shows the punch land low and even touch usyks trunks... it doesn't matter that a worse angle from the back doesn't show it. A different angle that doesn't show the glove touching trunks doesn't erase the clearer angle showing it does.

The angle from the front clearly shows its low and I'd it doesn't, you're saying that the second picture in this sequence isn't low?

I'll leave you alone after this, I'd just like to hear which part of this is wrong to you, if you have the time.

My point is that if you have to do all this to try and establish it was “low”, it’s not really low in the context of boxing as we know it. It’s not that I full stop disagree with you, I’m just saying that isn’t a punch historically viewed as “low” and Usyk was fortunate to get the benefit of the doubt, although I concede that’s something he’s earned. Furthermore Dubious is awful and it would have been tragic for him to get the belts from such a great champion.

Looks on the belt line and does seemed to have strayed a little low. Can’t imagine Usyk not getting up if the ref would have started counting.

The ref telling Usyk to take his time after he said he was ready then taking another minute to start the fight again was ridiculous though.

But, 'all of this' is really just watching it in slow motion, and showing people pictures of the moment of impact. Not really all that much to it.

If it has to be broken down elementary style like this for people like I did in my post, which its evident it has to be as even as of now theres people claiming thats not low, that's more of a statement about the people, and not the objectiveness of the reality of the situation being broken down.

The reason it has to be viewed in slow motion is because the punch drifts up incredibly fast. Even on .25 speed I had to go back n forth to get the point of impact.

And I don't see how that punch wouldn't historically be seen as low. It was low by any standard in boxing. The ref didn't give Usyk the benefit of the doubt, he made a call based on the rules of boxing.

Anyways, it seems like you're saying 'ya that was low but Usyk was lucky the ref called it low, and if that it normally wouldn't be seen as low'.

I don't see why you think a blatant low blow wouldn't be seen as such in the past. But I suppose if that would historically be called a low blow or not is a subjective discussion on how the past would have called that. If I had the time I'd get examples of similar shots that have been called low blows before.

What's not subjective though is that by the rules of the sport, and objective physical location of the point of impact, is objectively low.

People are scoffing about being hit by a 240lb power puncher below the belt. That rightfully should be a foul.

Anyways, I appreciate your view and you taking the time to tell it.

That's exactly the angle I was just recording on my TV. That punch never touched his balls. He was either stopped or in serious trouble. You can see that during the upswing it never touched his balls.
