OLEKSANDR USYK VS. DANIEL DUBOIS REMATCH BEING FINALIZED FOR JULY 12 AT WEMBLEY

Oleksandr Usyk and Daniel Dubois are in the process of finalizing a deal for a Ring Magazine and undisputed heavyweight championship rematch July 12 at London’s Wembley Stadium, sources told The Ring.

Usyk, The Ring’s pound-for-pound No. 1 boxer, defeated Dubois via ninth-round KO when they met in August 2023 in Wroclaw, Poland.

There was controversy after London’s Dubois landed a low blow in Round 5 that he claimed was a legal body punch.

After the fight, both Usyk and Dubois went on to reach far greater heights. Ukraine’s Usyk (23-0, 14 KOs) scored a pair of decision victories over Tyson Fury last year in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia to cement himself as the greatest heavyweight of his generation.

The first meeting in May was named Ring Magazine’s 2024 Fight of the Year. In Round 9, Usyk floored Fury with a barrage of 14 unanswered punches that forced the ropes to hold up the “Gypsy King.”

That win earned Usyk the undisputed heavyweight championship but it was short lived as he soon relinquished the IBF title to head into the rematch with Fury.

The IBF, which ordered Usyk to defend against Dubois, elevated him from interim titleholder to recognized champion.

London’s Dubois (22-2, 21 KOs) then went on to score the biggest win of his career, a fifth-round KO of former unified champion Anthony Joshua in September at Wembley.

After the 38-year-old Usyk retained his three titles in December, the 27-year-old Dubois entered to ring to call him out for a rematch.

First, Dubois was set to face Joseph Parker in February in Riyadh before he fell ill, which cancelled the fight.

Now, Dubois has his chance at revenge.

Disappointing. Would rather Usyk fight somebody new and someone quitting after a jab from a non puncher doesn't deserve a rematch as far as I'm concerned.

If Dubois pulls off the upset will Usyk get a rematch? Almost certainly not.

Have to feel for Parker too who probably feels as far away from a title shot as he was 2 years ago.

Does Usyk have to beat everyone twice?

Rather give someone different a shot. Parker or Kabayel.

Hopefully a double British celebration on the glorious date of 12 July.

DDD cannot surrender on this date.

Yeah it'd have been better to see Dubois Parker rearranged and Usyk defend against Kabayel.

Think this fight struggles to sell out Wembley personally unless the prices are dirt cheap.

Would prefer both to fight other people. Couldn't care less about the meaningless title of 'undisputed'

Presume we get Parker v Kabayel?

We may get a decent heavyweight undercard.

Joey 12 Parker v Agit Kabayel
Tyson Fury v War Chisora 4
Anthony Joshua v Dillian Whyte 2
Martin Bakole v Eric Esch Jnr
    Hughie Fury v Matt Lucas

I’m in New York that weekend, so will need to find a decent spot to watch. Anyway, Wembley seems well over the top. I would have thought they would host it at Spurs.

Anyway, Usyk is not getting any younger and the longer he hangs around the more chance he gets clipped. I’m backing DDD to land something big in the middle rounds and get him out.

Kick in the Jacob’s for Parker but money talks. I don’t think Dubois deserves the shot at undisputed as much as Parker deserves a title shot in general but let’s hope the winners first defence of all the belts is against Joe. That said, if it doesn’t happen at the tail end of 2025, I see Usyk just saying goodbye. Especially if Dubois 2 proves to be another gruelling 12 rounder.

Only fight that makes sense or decent money for either man.

Usyk stated a few weeks ago that he is retiring after 2 more fights.

Will go down as one of the ATGs and would be pleased if he went out undefeated although I want DDD to win should fight happen.

Looks like DDD then a final December fight in Saudi against whoever is the top contender.

No doubt once Usyk is gone and the vacant belts are up for grabs, we will suddenly see the vultures appearing.

Fury will make another comeback, Chisora will protect his high ranking with a defence of his 'War' Title against Dave Allen, Joshua will suddenly come out of hiding and Hughie Fury will be sniffing about the weakest paper champion hoping to get a crack.

Usyk wins again, then has for a last fight some pointless exhibition. Goes down as exactly like Marciano--undefeated and great but his critics cry about how he didn't fight Parker (Valdes in Marciano's case).

Don't get it wrong, though. I myself would like to see Parker get a shot.

Usyk is my favourite boxer snd so I hope he wins, but in all honesty, Dubois getting all the belts would at least prevent the **** show scenario you’ve described. Can do without AJ and Fury claiming ‘3 time’ heavyweight champion.
