Usyk hasn't had a single fight at heavy yet let alone against a true power puncher, bump this thread once OA has his chin checked at HW. Edit: Just read Usyk's next fight is at cruiser so seems he's not quite as eager as we all thought about moving up.
Usyk's last 6 fights Bellew199.25lbs Gassiev198.25lbs Briedis199lbs Huck 198.75lbs Hunter 198lbs Mchuna 198.5lbs These were of course the previous 24hrs weigh ins, so all would have been heavier in the ring. Frazier typically scaled 205lbs.So negligible difference imo Usyk fought as Super heavy as an amateur beating Joe Joyce in the World Series.
Good points you make but if Frazier was fighting today with modern nutrition and 'supplements' he'd weigh more than 205 IMO, my original point still stands that Usyk has not had his chin tested by anyone with real power like he will once he eventually gets in with the top heavies.
Nahh, no way. Joe would be a cruiser, do you imagine him against the likes of Klitschko, Fury or Joshua?
Prime FOTC Frazier is perhaps one of, if not the worst possible matchup for a boxer or outside fighter. Usyk gets caught with too many big punches too often and gets stopped late after putting up a good fight.
We aren't assessing a mythical chimera of Frazier, we are assessing him as he actually was, 5'11" 205lbs when prime. We are also not comparing Usyk's chances against Super Heavy weights we are comparing Frazier to him a 6'3"southpaw who would weigh about the same as himself. So your point isn't valid. Mathis went 11 rds with Joe, Bonavena went the distance twice and he wasn't hard to tag ,an old Machen went into the last round. It's not like everyone Frazier hit just fell down. None of those three had anywhere near Usyk's mobility, punch variety, work rate ,or was a southpaw.
Usyk has shown in only 16 fights to be phenomenal fighter . However his chin has not being tested and being in with a fighter of Smokin Joe's intensity. At the moment Frazier has proven himself in a firefight . Frazier on pts.
