"Eastern euros" are amongst the elite boxers in the world. What does having difficulty in pronouncing their names have anything to do with it? This is a top quality contest for the undisputed world championship in a weight division that consistently delivers great fights.
Yeah there’s people out there that think Tony Bellew is a boxing god. It’s actually pretty scary to think that
Yup cool, all the hardcores will watch it. What I dont understand is people getting up in arms that british fights featuring british fighters get put on PPV in Britain, And that they would rather we have yhis kind of fight on PPV probably supported by an undercard of japanese strawweights who are going to put on a technical 12 round masterpiece and politely smile to the crowd afterwards with not a word of english. The man on the street wants "beef" he wants tables lobbed at press conferences, he wants mad trash talk and he wants to see British fighters fight. He wants to see dudes that are somewhat relatable. And guess what? He doesnt mind paying PPV. Enry cooper was nowhere NEAR p4p level yet he was what people wanted to see. Frank Bruno Hell Logan Paul vs KSI will do mayweather money and they arent even boxers. "Hardcore" boxing snobs are the most annoying of all because they either have zero understanding or simply choose to ignore the fact that this sport is a billion dollar industry and what YOU "like" has very little bearing on the mass consumer. If there wasnt a market for Bellew, he wouldnt be on PPV, there clearly IS a market for him, so why bother getting upset over it and that pongalok winklmon whos a much better fighter from the thai super flyweight scene isnt getting shown? You give the consumer what THEY want And that's NEVER going to change.
My point is there's two types of fans, well maybe 3 Hardcore snobs Serious fans Casuals I place myself in the second category because I know the sport and i spend a lot of yime on it but i generally like the entertainment value more than anything. But all the money comes from the casuals. Sure back in the days of enry and bruno people knew what their standing was because they knew Ali and Tyson were the top dogs Usyk and Briedis and Gassiev will never be as marketable as a Tyson or Ali, its a pretty obvious situation. Btw i dont like Tony Bellew but im being realistic.
Some people would be happy if shows were at York Hall with it Jam packed of the hardcore. The reality is boxers become extremely wealthy on the back of the casual fan. Yes they may not know every fighter or watch many fights but what they do is pay good money for tickets and buy PPV. That's not a bad thing.
Why is it not a 'bad thing' ? Bellew and Toe walked away with millions of pounds with the latter conning the public claiming he was 'at his best' and 'injury free' for both fights when he was clearly finished years ago due to career ending injuries. Conning people is not good whether it is boxing or otherwise.
I'm afraid it's going to get worse before it gets better. Most of our more well known boxers are in cashout mode with little interest in taking meaningful fights. I think it will be at least another year before serious boxing (outside of AJ) really takes centre stage.
Seriously excited for this fight! I think it's a pure 50/50 The advert for it is constantly getting shown on primetime ITV. Hopefully it does decent numbers.
The main problem is the boxers themselves (for the most part) care very little about titles, rankings etc. They disguise it well until they actually get themselves a world trinket or get in a position to. But ultimately all they care about is the pay cheques and it shows itself to be true time after time after time. Put £5,000,000 in front of Bellew to fight Fury or £1,000,000 to fight the winner of WBSS and you know which one he's picking every day of the week. Can't say I blame them, the majority of boxers are basically exploited financially their entire careers by managers and promoters. Boxing, and other forms of prize fighting operate under the guise of 'sport' IMO, ultimately it's people battering each other into submission for the entertainment of the masses. Money will always rule, we best get used to it.
Was just coming here to post this lol. Bro, who do you think is going to win? I really want to bet a few quid on this fight but im torn with who to go with!!!!!! Finish work at 8 tomorrow, best believe i will be counting down the hours lol. Can't wait for this one....WAR!!
1 link says it's 10pm Uk time for the main event with the card staring at 7pm. mate this is a straight 50/50!! just enjoy it ha, that's what I'm gonna do. Usyk knows how to deliver in big fights/ big main events when the pressure is on with his amateur pedigree full of gold medals so if I was pushed to predict I'd say him on points.
