Usyk didn't start his pro career as a middleweight Byrd did. By the time Usyk was fully grown he was the size of a cruiserweight. Byrd was not. Byrd had to put on weight
Exactly. Usyk proved himself at the elite level. Ike is incredibly overrated because of a slugfest with Tua (and some question this win!) And splattering the feather fisted Byrd who was like 30+ lbs lighter than Ike. What an amazing resume. If Usyk can go 36 rounds with AJ and Chisora, I highly doubt Ike is just going to run him over.
Joshua wasn't cautious in the rematch. He threw some very vicious body shots, pressured Usyk a lot, and let his hands go. He really tried to knock Usyk out on several occasions and Usyk had to either run or counter to survive.
He did better in the rematch for sure, but I still think he was too cautious and didn't really impose himself on Usyk. I feel like win or lose Ibeabuchi would be more aggressive, and make Usyk work harder than Joshua did. Chisora showed in his fight with Usyk, that you can make Usyk uncomfortable with pressure.
Usyk was simply too good for Joshua to impose himself. Joshua really did try to be aggressive and walked Usyk down several times with heavy blows.
Honestly I think ever since Joshua lost to Ruiz, he's lost some confidence and has never quite been the same. Yes Usyk is too good for Joshua, but Joshua stood off for long periods in the round not throwing punches. I agree with you there was at times when Joshua had success with body shots especially in round 9, but for a man of the size and strength of Joshua. For me he fought too passively overall against the smaller man. As I said win or lose Ibeabuchi would be putting on far pressure than Joshua did, and won't be worried about his chin or stamina like Joshua was either.
