After beating Tua AND Byrd, two very different young undefeated fighters, he put himself ahead of the "new generation" of heavies and i had similar thoughts, he was going to be a legit contender for Lewis. I was also exvited to see him vs Golota, or Holyfield, or Grant. Unfortunately it didn't work out.

Lol, and Ike beat two...one of which is actually a super middle, and the other of which was shorter than most of Usyk cruiserweight opponents.

Not to mention that Hunter went on to become a top heavy. Briedis spent a lot of his career there and and has at least one good win over Charr. Bellew had his best wins over Haye at heavy.

On top of that, because of the advent of rehydration clauses, basically all of Usyk's good cruiser opponents were heavies on the night he fought them.

Usyk- JoshuaX2, Chisora, Hunter, Brieidis, Bellew...additionally Glowacki, Huck, Mchunu, Gassiev if you include the hydration point.

    Ibeabuchi- Byrd, Tua

Usyk's record shits all over Ike's

    Everything you say is stupid.

    Ibeabuchi all the way.

Winning a close fight against a Joshua who lost to a big fat Andy Ruiz is not the proof that you can beat a strong contender from the golden era of the heavyweight division.

Ibeabuchi destroyed the most elusive fighter and won against the biggest puncher in the person of David Tua. Byrd became a champion after this even scored a win against one of the Klitschkos. Ike is above Usyk.

    I'd favour Usyk.

While Ike beat Byrd, Byrd isn't Usyk. Byrd while elusive stood in front of opponents a lot and would slip and counter, often fighting in his opponents range and Usyk is nothing like that, his movement would make him a very different proposition.

Also I think Usyk has a better chin than Byrd based on what we've seen, Usyk isn't going to just get taken out with one big shot like Byrd.

Can Ike chase down and break down Usyk and even if he lands is his power enough to KO Usyk? Usyk right now is more proven to me, while Ike looked great beating Byrd and Tua there were still a lot of question marks over how good he really was. He never showed if he could handle a big super heavy like Lewis or Joshua like Usyk has done.

"Byrd was making him miss a lot and look foolish in spots, then parked on the ropes and tried to hook with him"

I wouldn't say he was making Ike look "foolish". Chris marginally took the first round while losing the rest. And Byrd didn't make a conscious choice to back against the ropes. Rather, Ike pressed forward and proceeded to crowd him. I'd have my doubts as to Usyk withstanding the kind of pressure and workrate Ike brings.

I would also argue when he said "Usyk has a better chin than Byrd" the punch Ike hit Byrd with, would of sent almost any Heavyweight to the shadow realm including Usyk. The fact Byrd even managed to get up from it was astonishing, other than that Byrd in his prime always showed good durability, and has more evidence of his toughness at Heavyweight than Usyk has.

I don't get how people don't think a very strong hard hitting Heavyweight, who has a granite chin and can throw 80 punches a round. Wouldn't give Usyk problems when someone like Chisora did with his pressure. And unlike Chisora Ike wouldn't gas after 3 rounds. He would be putting immense pressure on Usyk for all 12 rounds.
