Hmm, I'll actually take Norton on this one. A prime Norton is a big nightmare for most boxer-based styles. Norton UD. If Usyk takes this its by SD in my opinion.
I think Ali from '67 would definitely beat Usyk. Usyk has a chance to beat the Ali from the 2nd Norton or 2nd Frazier fight (which are the best 70s versions of Ali imo). Its 50/50 against the best version of the 70s Ali in my book.
Ali was vulnerable against left hooks and jabs both in 60s and 70s. Sonny Banks, Henry Cooper and Joe Frazier knocked down him by left hooks. Doug Jones arguably beat him by jabs. Usyk is extremely skilled southpaw and can switch his hands during fights. Usyk would give 60s Ali tough fight.
Usky would win. Norton would join McClennan if they ever faced. A b- athlete versus a genetic superman. Are you serious?
I feel that some people are saying Norton out of respect for Ali, when the truth is he lost to a lot of lesser fighters, and even a journeyman. A few relevant questions to ask yourself and answer honestly: 1. Would Usyk ever be beaten by someone of Jose Luis Garcia Caliber? 2. What slick southpaw has Ken Norton beaten? 3. Did Norton ever beat someone of the size, power and quality (all three) of Joshua? 4. Who has knocked down Usyk in a professional match-up? No disrespect to Norton, who has earned his place in the pantheon...as a minor god. Usyk is headed for mount Olympus.
Good points are being made in Usyk's favor. Norton was good but i do feel I've been overrating him because or the Ali fights. I changed my mind, I'll take Usyk, but it would be a hard night. Only guy I see from the 70s beating Usyk is Joe Frazier. That man was a movers worst nightmare and he targeted the body which is especially bad news for Usyk
