too bad they can’t dominate those either. I am sure they don’t. But to be fair to them they clearly dominate global obesity rankings
Usyk is a good enough fighter that pitting him against Ali isn’t exactly ridiculous. What’s weird to me is when these threads pop up after a fighter beats someone who has nowhere near the same style as the guy they are putting him against in a fantasy match up.
Stop, please. I like Usyk and think he has skills comparable to Ali. But what he doesn't have is one punch ko power; especially at HW. No one ever "destroyed" a healthy Ali in 3 rounds and certainly Usyk wouldn't be the one to accomplish something that Hall of Fame boxers never did. I hope you were being sarcastic.
Usyk deserves much credit for his ring smarts, technique, hard work & toughness. Since modern day CWs are the size of most past HWs & ATGs, sometimes bigger, given his amateur semi-pro & professional career it is reasonable to consider him against any HW ATG. Although when prime & landing 24% of punches against a large & not especially mobile fighter-who could not throw or land near the volume of an Ali & without top level power shows evidence of how difficult it would be to beat Ali. Can we all agree on my rebuttals to the following factually mistaken, often highly biased comments? Sometimes mere errors, but many also Born of Ego over-identification &/or petty nationalism. 1) Ali was bigger than Usyk. No, height same, Ali slightly more wingspan, Averaged the same weight, but prime Ali about 8 lbs. less than HW Usyk. 2) Prime Ali was "a lot lighter" than Usyk. Clearly this is also mistaken. And Usyk is thicker waisted, so their muscle mass is roughly identical. 3) Ali was a "punchbag". Nonsense: except when sick & washed up no, & used his ability to absorb punishment to beat ATGs. In his prime was nothing like that. 4) Ali never threw a body punch in his life. Even in a short fight he dominated in his prime against Cleveland Williams he went often enough to the body. One of many times he was very "slick". 5) Ali "went life & death" with Mildenberger. This statement is This content is protected It completely This content is protected -at least on this subject-of anyone who even believes it. As does giving punch counts (which Ali won)-without reference/links too-but not honest or fair enough to volunteer what you have been told many times elsewhere: Leaving out how only Karl was down in 3 rounds, before stopped in the last round, & Ali never hurt at all, is unconscionable. Life & Death means a fight was very close AND a man was in grave danger of being defeated, usually also hurt & down multiple times. Edit: the lowest margin of victory Ali was awarded by the 3 judges was 11 points. He was never in danger, let alone the absurd claim that he went "life & death". Let's reject & condemn foolish, dubiously motivated wishful thinking, & being unjust to either great fighter.
Please god, he just barely beat a broken Joshua. Ali would pick him apart. Usyk's entire HW career is Joshua. Fury didn't get this much credit for beating Wilder and he actually has KO power.
