Obviously, I was joking before. There were things Ali didn't do very often e.g. he rarely threw body punches - in fact, I think he might have thrown more body punches in the second Bugner fight than in all his other bouts combined. But I wouldn't regard this as a weakness. He was more susceptible to a left hook and admitted that himself - each of the three knockdowns he suffered were from that punch. I'm not including the Wepner fight because that should never have been called a knockdown. But, then again, Ali was never knocked down in his prime. Usyk is a very, very good fighter but I think it's crazy to suggest that he would have beaten a prime Ali.
Ali is outdated compared and would be countered easy it should be mentioned ali did so great cause it was nobody on his skill level its obvious he would look good His toughest match was joe who was outdated compared to 90s to
I can never tell if these types of comments are based upon trolling or ignorance. Countered easy by who? Joe Frazier was outdated? What does that even mean? There’s no set style which everyone follows. Every fighter has their own style, depending on their size and attributes. Ali and Frazier would have mixed results in any era, just like any other great HW would. Every fighter has a stylistic nemesis. There’s no such thing as something being outdated. Yes, there weren’t many small pressure fighters in the 90’s, but that doesn’t mean that they were outdated. Usyk is a genius, but his nemesis would be a great pressure fighter like Frazier and Mike Tyson, who’d have given him tough fights on the inside. An Ali-Usyk fight would have been a chess match, between two highly fast and athletic fighters.
I will only respond to this cause its a lie if its no such thing as outdated why is it those same fighters like a ali george would never make it in 90s they need to advance their styles cause they fought with more advances in their movements in 90s and they hit harder 20s-50s had mutiple fighters who never would make pro fighting how they fought had they been in 70s cause they were that outdated they all look trash compared to 70s All you have to do is watch how they fought those era's and compare to 70s
What are you talking about? Ali was a great fighter with great attributes. He would have had success in any era, where he may have have lost the odd few fights depending on who he was fighting and how he matched up stylistically with them. George? George Foreman? George Foreman won the HW title in 1994. Joe Louis was also a great fighter who’d have found success in any HW era.
So name the mid/high carder from 70s-90s who fought exactly like louis and george and made it to the top
Even as somebody who considers Joe Louis a huge boxing idol and inspiration, it's hard to imagine a 200 pound man with his level of footwork defeating 280 pound 6'9 Fury who has good footwork or 220 pound Usyk who has excellent footwork and lateral movement. I also don't really see how he could deal with somebody like Klitschko and his physical attributes coupled with the fact he likes to clinch over and over.
George himself made it to the top in the 90’s. He was a top 10 rated HW for a long time, where he won a title. Who fights like Mike Tyson today? Nobody. Does that mean that Mike Tyson of the 80’s couldn’t have success today? Who fights like Ali today? Nobody. Does that mean that Ali of the 60’s and 70’s couldn’t have success today? Great fighters would have success in any era, where they’d have had mixed results depending on who they fought. Again, there’s no such thing as an outdated style, simply because there’s many different styles.
But this is the beauty of boxing isn’t it. As per the old adage: ‘styles make fights’ Louis may well have had extremely hard matches with those guys that you have mentioned. Yet those guys themselves would struggle, and have struggled, against lesser fighters than Louis, due to them having faced difficult stylistic match ups.
Wow this s*** just keeps getting funnier & funnier! It seems like ever since Usyk won the rematch with AJ, I've been reading some of the dumbest crap ever on here. I wonder if it's a coincidence? First I read that Ali had bad foot work. Then, some genius said Joe Luis wasn't a good puncher. Now, Ali lacked skills/had club fighter skills. Don't people realize how ridiculous they look when they make outrageous claims like these? It's like saying Dempsey wasn't exciting. Aaron Pryor lacked offense. Liston needed to work on his stare-down skills.
So boxers who fight like this could make it in 70s-90s? This content is protected you didnt give me any name who was a mid/high level ranked fighter from 70s-now who fought like exactly like these 2 and most of that era who made it to the top so I take it you have nobody to name which means your comment is just that a comment unless you provide a name
How about we just aren't stuck with a era and can see boxers have got better like with all sports athletes get better.... dont know why that's hard to accept Can I just walk on a court playing like a NBA player from the 50s or tennis player and think i can make it now of course not I will have to adapt to how they play now
Not everybody fights the same, genius. All the fighters are different sizes, with different attributes and styles. There is no one style per era. What don’t you understand about that? Joe Louis was one of greatest HW’s of all time. Precise, technical skills, One punch knockout power in either hand, and a ruthless finisher. He’d have made it in the 70’s to 90’s, again, enjoying mixed success. What do you class as making it? Being a top 10 ranked guy? Winning a title? A crude Wilder was a champion for how many years?
