After the AJ fight, it got me to thinking how he would fare against these 2. Both match him in boxing skill and both could take his shots. I think it would be a very interesting set of fights.
Norton might just beat him. That said, I don't confident we've seen enough of Usyk at heavyweight to engage much in what ifs. He needs a couple of more fights at this weight minimum imo.
He'd have a nice fight with Spinks, Norton takes him out, he doesn't have the power to discourage Norton and Kenny's jab was the real deal
Usyk beat slow as molasses Anthony Joshua and now clueless people act like he is some kind of heavyweight legend. The funny thing is even against slow Joshua Usyk only landed 20 or so percent of his punches. Both Ken Norton and Spinks would destroy Usyk. Norton only loss to massive punchers. Uysk isn't a massive puncher. Spinks only lost to Tyson. Usyk is no Mike Tyson.
Well on the score cards he won. I had Spinks losing both fights. I had Mercer beating Lennox Lewis, I had George Foreman beating Shannon Briggs, I had Jimmy Young beating Muhammad Ali ect. But the score cards stated differently. But in any case Spinks only official lost was too Tyson. Ken Norton only lost to monster punchers. Even then against Ernie Shavers and Gerry Cooney he was past his best. Uysk has nothing for Norton.
I think Norton beats Usyk Norton has very good stamina and pressures you from the opening bell until the final bell, Usyk also doesn't have the firepower to discourage Norton from coming forward. And finally Norton as we all know had success vs elite boxers, so based on all that I take Norton by decision. As for Spinks vs Usyk I think it's a even fight, just because Spinks got blown away by Tyson means nothing regarding this match up. It would be a fascinating tactical match up and a hard one to pick.
And Spinks clearly beat Holmes in their 1st meeting, and despite Holmes being past his best. Spinks beating a 48-0 Larry Holmes, is by far leagues ahead of any of Usyk's wins at Heavyweight currently.
I don't think so really. In his prior fight many had Holmes clearly losing to Carl Williams. If Holmes is losing to the likes of Carl Williams that suggests he had declined considerably from his prime self. Some of the cruiserweights Usyk beat could probably take Williams
Williams was a 6'5 skilled Heavyweight with a fantastic jab, his only weakness was he vulnerable to left hooks and his chin was so and so. But I don't necessarily agree all those Cruiserweights beat Williams, who was pretty good in his short prime. As for my original comment I don't see how beating an ATG 48-0 Holmes, is not better than anything on Usyk's Heavyweight resume.
