I actually used to really like Canelo until he went full diva but you are correct about the others. In fact add Charlo's and Wilder to that list. Believe it or not if got money to judge fights I would be more professional and not just an angry fan and I could not be bought because I am principled.
Usyk ain't even been tested yet. Them B leaguers ain't no real test. The man hasn't even been hurt yet and it's not because of his skills but rather his competition. Yall making a big deal out of him fighting in four countries but I can take a flight from New York to LA and travel more miles than he did fighting. That's like he just going from one state to another fighting state champions. You gents bar is set so low that yall make a major event out some quack that's just average.
usyk slick? that's grossly abusing that word. you shouldn't be getting away with making such stupid claims. it's telling us that our very own eyes deceive us whenever we watch him.
1) He was the same age when he lost to Moorer (31) as Usyk is now and smack in the middle of the Bowe trilogy... 2) Had the Moorer fights never happened, nobody would say Mike would've had a chance vs that version of Holyfield because people routinely underrate the adjustment it takes to face a world class southpaw for the first time. The earlier in Holy's career you make it, the harder it'd be for him to figure Usyk out.
Too early to say, but until Usyk faces (and passes) some sterner tests, I would pick Holyfield. Ask again in a couple of years.
Usyk not slick? Hmmm, now that's a bit of a hot take....we all have our own opinions, but I think I'll take Tony Bellew's word over yours. Firsthand experience and all that. " He's slick, he's strong. I have nothing but respect for him."
hes 2slyk, not unslick. But obviously we go with Holyfield ATG over the elite everytime, thats just commonsense.
Holyfield had 18 Cruiserweight fights, 6 of which were title fights. He unified all 3 major titles by his 18th fight. Usyk has 16 fights at the weight and 7 title fights. He unified all 4 major titles of his era by his 15th fight. I know it's impossible not to let Holyfields long heavyweight campaign come in to play (guilty of it myself), but the CW comparison is there to be made, and Usyk is an ATG there.
I rank Usyk as the goat cruiser now but I still think Holy beats him. Holyfield has somethings in his arsenal that Usyk contenders haven't had. Firstly he has an adamantium level chin, he won't be put off by Usyk power, which is underrated. I don't think Usyk can really do enough damage to Holyfield to stop him coming forward (and we've seen guys drop and hurt Evander, never really stopped him coming). Secondly, Holyfield has a huge workrate, his stamina is unreal, he can fight at a very fast pace for the duration of the fight. For guys this size that can be very problematic later when they are gassing. Usyk has a very good gas tank as well but he has rarely if ever had to fight at the pace of what we saw in say Holyfield Qawi 1. Maybes the Breidis fight but other than that Usyk has been able to dictate pace. Thirdly, Holyfield is the most skilled fighter Usyk will have encountered, Evander will get on the inside and push Usyk back, he'll be throwing combos constantly and Usyk will be forced into a brawl, something he'll go out of his way to avoid, he likes to be in his comfort zone even if he can mix it up too. I think Evander would just out work him to a decision. Usyk will have moments, win some rounds but ultimately it'll be a competitive fight that Evander wins cleanly.
Although not at Cruiser we still have to account for that Evander did go on to beat taller, naturally bigger and talented boxers than himself. He beat Biwe in the second fight and both the first and third were competitive. He lost the first Lennox fight but you can make an argument he could have won the second. He beat past prime versions of Foreman and Holmes, obviously later you can argue a near fifty year old Evander beat Valuev. Douglas, Domes, Thomas were all 6'3'' guys too. All. Those are completely different to Usyk in style and career trajectory but we can at least move height and weight as not huge factors in the debate.
The most important thing to remember here is Evan Fields wasn't just enhancing himself with 1 picogram of a PED or some substance that was basically the equivalent of a medium strength cup of coffee, he was a walking PED factory who stood about as much chance of passing VADA as Dan Rafael does of winning Slimmer of the Year.
Prime vs Prime. That would make Holyfield a 190 pound cruiserweight. That being said, Moorer would have had a good chance to KO Usyk.
You are comparing a fighter with only around 15 fights to a fighter with a finished career, so not relevant. You have to stick with where we can compare, which is CW. Holyfield didn't beat those fighter's at cw. You can't compare different divisions clearly. At CW which is the division I think being talked about you could ask if holyfield beat anyone as good as gassiev for example as he struggled with a small LHW at CW. Thats not to say he might not have done. At CW I would favour Usyk based on what we know at that weight
