There will inevitably be a flood of people coming in here to describe Qawi breaking down Usyk, but their motives will be disingenuous and they won't truly believe what they're saying. They will fall in either of these (frequently overlapping) camps: - old-timers nostalgic for the past - rah-rah jingoistic types - holy defenders insecure about his grasp on the cw goat throne slipping and desperate to prove that usyk would lose to guys he beat.
Most of the children on here won't know who Qawi is and will be on boxrec now looking to justify there pick for the 14-0 guy who's beaten a few b level guys.
Funny you point out how few fights Uysk has had in your defense of Qawi. Of course, your faux pas is correct. Being undisputed CW champion inside 14 fights is a noteworthy achievement. Gassiev and Briedis are not B-level either. It's 'long-suffering', by the way. If you're going to be a smug ****, be a grammatically-correct one...
This. Usyk’s ability is legit, but Qawi isn’t a novice like Gassiev or one dimensional like Breidis. Usyk was eating a lot of clean rights against Bellew like I expected him to before Bellew gassed. I don’t see Usyk absorbing that many clean rights from Qawi. Usyk needs to do something about his defense before moving up to heavyweight and challenging for a title.
Usyk makes Qawi look awful, goes the distance and he has to be on it but its crystal clear seeing how it would go
Usyk Possibly early as well. CW is different now. It's not like it was back then when you had former lhws facing off. These CW's are bigger/heavier full blown career CWS or fighter's going on to hw. I couldn't imagine usyk not being able to clearly beat a 5ft 7 former lhw when fighting at cw
Gassiev isn't B - level , but Briedis is. To me he's not on the same level as guys like Lebadev , Cunningham Adamek etc. I don't know why he gets so overrated. He looked like Okoile against Mike Perez and got a gift in his last bout against a nobody.
Bellew fought out of his skin to try and confuse Usyk, in the end he was on his nerves to much and gassed, it felt like Usyk was just waiting to me, hes been more dominant against better men than Bellew
Considering Qawi's quite unique physical attributes for the divisions he fought in and the style he developed because of that is sort of hard to discuss this one. Usyk has not fought anyone like Mr Braxton and likely never will. Conversely Qawi didn't really fight anyone like Usyk. In terms of comparing quality of opposition you have to ask yourself was a 190 Commander Evander as good or better than the guys Usyk has fought? Qawi was competitive with Holy but still lost convincingly in my eyes. I don't think that fight warrants a SD.
