Usyk will rule that division for years to come, and James looked great there. Both are tremendously skilled. So, both on there best form @ CW - Who wins and how?
Usyk in a closer than expected bout, Toney hated the movers, but with subtle changes here and there, he could win some rounds before Usyk realizing that he better keeps moving.
Usyk shuts him out. His feet are too good for Toney. He knows what to do, and that is to stay at range and use his feet. Olek is made for counter punchers, it's those who can provide the pressure who will trouble him. Toney's feet became increasingly flat as he went up and he never was the best at coming forward.
He's a highly decorated amateur with multiple golds, capable of getting the better of super heavyweights in sparring. As a pro he's a cruiserweight. 6'3" tall, a southpaw, quick, skilled, very durable and with a good punch. I think he is good enough to rate as a top 12 pound for pound fighter as a pro. He's got more talent than Povektin, and more upside as well. He'd out box and out hit Toney. I also think due to the talent level in the division, he's good enough to beat anyone and win any belt.
Blade, it's not only who he has beaten, but how quickly he has been moved and how easily he has defeated them. Usyk won a world title belt in his 10th pro fight, vs Glowacki a 26-0 fighter. The fight was not close. Even after the loss, Glowacki is still rated 4th in a very good and deep cruiser weight division. I'm an unabashed Toney apologist...I think James is a great fighter. But Usyk with his style...takes a decision IMO. Here's a match up that will make Classic forum cringe...How about the young Gene Tunney v Usyk? I think Usyk handily beats Carpentier...Could he beat Tunney? Hmmmmm....
