Ok it took him 2 fights, the first one Whyte went life and death with Chisora and arguably lost. As a matter of fact i think Chsiora was winning in the second fight until Whyte KO'd him in the 11th. Usyk lost the first 4 rounds and had his way with Chisora afterwards
He is a counter puncher boxer not a swarmer. Have you ever seen him fight? Regarding power, he had Chisora hurt who has a decent chin. Usyk will not throw hard enough to be open for a counter but he will sit down on the counters he throws and break fighters down with attrition. Of course he can compete at HW. Not saying he will clean out the division, that's almost impossible with boxing politics these days, but he will be dangerous.
Putting on a ton of weight will most likely blunt Usyk's main advantage over the big lads. His speed. At the age of 34, he was never going to get quicker and now he has to get used to the extra pounds. If I was a betting man, I'd be lumping on Joyce.
Maybe the deal was you get to 230, and the WBO will just mail him a belt like they mailed his mandatory rating to him?
IMO this weight gain will ultimately work against him... We've already seen how much speed he's lost against Chisora (arguably his greatest weapon).... second his punch output will probably decrease too, his second greatest asset... Remember, he only beat Gassiev because of his crazy punch output, throwing about 100 punches per round.... he was very busy, didn't even give Gassiev a chance to set and throw a punch... so yeah this 230 pound new frame, don't see how it will benefit him...
To be fair, he does look like he's just been drinking a lot of beer and eating ice cream to gain that weight; it sure isn't muscle weight. He's got a beer gut!
He's definitely the guy who could spoil the party at HW but I don't see him beating Fury, he has a decent shot against anyone else tho, even Canelo
