Usyk: Wilder is the easiest opponent for me, Fury is the hardest one!

I've long thought this. Wilder doesn't have the brainpower or the style to cause Usyk any problems, and his danger punch is one that Usyk will see coming a mile away. Szpilka caused Wilder all sorts of problems with his movement and herky jerky style, so Wilder is going to have a nightmare trying to cope with Usyk. There's always the danger of that one punch power, but while Usyk tends to get hit a bit before he's found his rhythm, they're not generally huge punches, but short counter-shots which aren't Wilder's speciality.

Fury is a lot more difficult for Usyk to figure out, due to the jab, the off rhythm of Fury and the general size he'll bring to bear. Fury can look ragged though, so if Usyk is able to make things difficult for him I can see him unravelling and getting beaten down the stretch. It's the most intriguing fight in the division right now.

 

Wilder fights at around the same weight as Usyk on fight night. It's not as huge a jump as you seem to think.

As for class, have you ever watched the CW division? It's significantly better than this poverty stricken HW pond.

 

I still don't get why people think Wilder is this massive guy. He's a lanky HW who's barely heavier than most large CWs after rehydration. CWs are pretty much HWs anyway, historically speaking. Nothing small about them at all.

 

It's the fight with the most potential for an upset, although Joshua could also end things in a heartbeat if he lands a big one. Usyk's not a man to take silly risks though, so I wouldn't be worried on that count.

 

Fury was avoiding Wilder all night long, but he slipped up and got caught. Usyk doesn't really fight like that. He breaks fighters down mentally with his constant workrate and angles. If Wilder makes it to the later rounds he'll be tripping over his own feet and completely clueless on what to do (even moreso than usual). Wilder's biggest chances will come early in the fight, when Usyk is still warming up and getting the measure of his man. The longer the fight goes on the less dangerous Wilder will become.

 

He's going to look like Clancy Brown when he's older. He already gives off major Kurgan vibes.

I am feel he has a good chance against Wilder.

 

wilder hits harder than anyone in boxing. He has a significant reach and height advantage over Usyk and he’s used to fighting at the weight. Usyk gets hit more than I would like, and can take a punch very well from guys his own size. Usually He gets hit when he is careless which he would not be able to do against a puncher like Wilder. I like Usyk in the fight but won’t really know if he can fight at this weight until I see it. At cruiser, he is definitely elite but is not the biggest puncher. His elite boxing skills should transfer to HW well enough to challenge top guys but it’s still an unknown.

I don’t think Usyk would get up from that two piece Wilder landed on Fury. He’s going to have to fight like a mongoose vs a cobra against Wilder. Forget size, Wilder has deadly power and can KO any HW. That kind of power is only going to be more deadly against a blown up cruiser. I still like Usyk because he’s way more skilled but it’s a dangerous and exciting fight. Hope we see it someday soon.

Usyk is a 32 year former CW champion. Those guys were pretty much all smaller than him so he was able to use his size and reach. Some of you guys act as if he has legendary boxing skills. I don’t think that it takes a top ranked hvw to beat him tbh. At hvw he is capable of losing to anyone with some skill, size and power.

 

I agree with Usyk, Fury would be the most difficult for him. I wouldn't give Ruiz much of a chance vs. him, nor would I give Wilder any chance other than a home run hit (which is possible).

I still hesitate at calling Usyk the best yet, because he simply hasn't been in with the guys that tower over him yet, I wanna see how he handles range and size. I said on another thread I'd give Fury the slight advantage over him, I can see Fury attempting a spoiling keep away game and we all know Fury can do this for 12 rounds. Fury moves, won't set, will hold (he'd have the advantage in clinches because of height and leverage), and is willing to stink up the joint and limit action. Usyk hasn't had that type of opponent yet, there's no one at CW (or HW) that can really prepare him for Fury's style, so the fact that he realizes that makes him all the fascinating.

Usyk is clearly going to be the best (skill set wise) at HW once he fights at the weight, I want to see how he handles a 6'5 and taller guy first before I change my mind. Fury looked very precarious in his last fight though, and I just have to imagine Usyk would've taken supreme advantage of that.
