I'm a huge Usyk fan, but with folks like SRR, Duran, Armstrong and Ali in the mix, Usyk simply cannot compete in terms of longevity - he's only had 19 pro fights, and regardless of his amateur pedigree that's not enough to claim GOAT. Hell it's hard to even argue that Usyk can compete with Pac and Mayweather. H2H nightmare for any cruiser or heavy in history though. Best of last 20 years is a good argument to have - GOAT? that's a tall order.
Yeah I really like Usyk but nah... When we look at the ATG's not only did they compete over a long period of time but they fought everyone in their own era win lose or draw. The greatest also beat several other ATG's. The reality is ATG's are thin on the ground in this era in a lot of divisions not just heavy. It's therefore impossible with someone with less than 20 pro fights in their mid 30's to really compete with the very best historically. If Usyk beats AJ and then beat Fury then he would be the best heavy of this era as AJ and Fury are clearly the two best heavies for achievement (Fury) and resume (AJ).
I'd rank SRL, Hearns, RJJ, and Whitaker higher than Usyk all time, just to name a few. Depending on whether he fights again and how his career ends, Lomachenko might rank higher than Usyk as well.
Usyk still has a few fights ahead of him yet at Heavyweight.Usyk to beat Joshua then fight Wilder for Undisputed and get brutally knocked out. Wilder Undisputed Heavyweight Champion despite his 3 losses to Fury. Alternative scenario Usyk beats Joshua then tempts Fury out of retirement to see who is the best Heavyweight of this era and after being unable to deal with Fury’s size is stopped second half of fight .
Usyk is a great fighter but his got no all time greats on his resume which makes it impossible to become the goat it really can't be done and if he did fight fury which is the only fight that matters at this point fury wins with ease
Too old to accomplish that now, but if he beats AJ again and beats Fury then he would be a great mythical H2H fighter.
Usyk is a great boxer (I’m not a fan because I’m not anyone’s fan). So he will be ahead of Sugar Raj Robinson, Muhammad Ali ... and many other superstars. Will he have time to do something like that? He would have to beat AJ again, Tyson Fury if he ever returned (if he retired at all), Wilder, Hrgovic, and many others. And many opponents several times. He would then (perhaps) be recognized as a GOAT boxer. Will he have time to do something like that?
Usyk has achieved everything he could achieve, which is all anyone could ever ask. The moment he saw the bodybuilder survive Wlad his mouth watered and knew he'd become heavyweight champ. He won't beat Fury, it will slowly turn into a mismatch but it's no shame to lose to such a creature. Usyk will also lay it on the line unlike Wlad who couldn't setup a punch to save his life.
