Will you accept small, light hitting HWs are poorly suited to being dominant champs if Usyk succeed

Go tell that to Chris Byrd who was a non-puncher at HW yet he is a 2 time champ.

Whilst others don't understand that whilst HW's hit harder....They're also slower and have less output.

Usyk will probably weigh the same at HW as Wilder.

He also wouldn't be the first fighter in History to actually gain power going up in weight.

Usyk is 6'3" tall with a 78" reach. About even numbers with Ali. He isn't power based. He's got speed, a chin, stamina, smarts, footwork and defense. A heavier man isn't going to be enough, he's going to needs skills and a larger reach to gain the advantage.

Wilder is basically a cruiserweight. Same weight as Usyk.

This. Gassiev's power is nothing compared to Wilder's or Joshua's. Also, Usyk isn't as clever a fighter as Byrd is nor can he fight at Holyfields pace to keep the big guys off balance as a way to compensate for his lack of power, but I'd still like to see him try, since the cruiserweight division has nothing left for him.

Exactly, re Ali. Ali was much larger than average in his era, and he used it well. The point I'm driving at is I don't think Ali or others like him could succeed in the modern era, at least he couldn't be the dominant champ he was then. Fury is the closest thing to Ali now, someone whowutilizes a combination of great size and speedandmovement, but hes 5 inches and 40 pounds heavier.

The problem is it doesn't look like there will be a free, easy belt like there was for Jones and one of the two times for Byrd. He'll have to Wade through the winner of AJ Wilder. That means he will either have a better legacy at hw than Jones or Byrd, or a worse one. I guess maybe AJ or wilder could drop a belt once they unify, and usyk could pick up that one.

Usyk has great ability, and it'll be very interesting to see how his career unfolds. But although he's of a similar size to Larry and Ali, his style and attributes are very different.

We don't need to see how he does, in order to form a realistic opinion of how we think Ali and Holmes would have done today.

    They were proven HW's.

If Usky comes unstuck, is that seriously going to convince you that Ali and Larry wouldn't have had a chance?

    Roy was immensely skilled.
