Don't know if he is big enough for the HW's. He is a super nice boxer in my opinion. He is of the Highest quality on this planet for sure.
Usyk is great.. He would probably beat Joshua, Wilder, and Povetkin. But Fury will be a problem.. Mostly because of his height and reach.
Fury is such an unstable character by the time Usyk moves up Fury will probably be retired, banned, or shot due to his Riddick Bowe like weight fluctuations.
It is surprising how effortlessy he could take superheavy's best shots at amateurs. BUT, that was at amateurs. Antishock gloves make a world of a difference. Can he take that power at pro? I don't think so, but if he can, and he specializes his style, he has the skills to mabe be able to outpoint several of them. Still, i'm skeptical of ANY boxer below 6'4 in the modern division. Size matters. Look at Haye, he was phenomenal at cruisers, and he built his style to beat bigger men; and he still failed.
So he's going to dominate the heavyweight division for years but the OP thinks he should fight a blown up super middleweight first.
Now that I think of it, the size difference and the power the super heavies possess now will be too much IMO
He's 6'3" tall with a 78" reach. In the AM's he took a heck of a punch when one was landed. It's not like Lewis or Klitschko is out there today in their prime. We have a bunch of suspect and unproven alphabet champions. Usyk would do fine. I'd pick him over Fury and Wilder right now! Give him 1-2 years to build up at heavy. PS: Tua was under 201 pounds int he AM's for a while. He got Ko'd in 1 by Savon. Ibragimov and Chagaev were also under 201. No reason why Usyk can't do it. You can argue he has better skills than either of them.
I can not forbid you to mock, and I don't think that I wrote anything strange. So, I consider Usyk as an extremely skillful boxer, I consider Ward as an extremely skillful boxer, too. Am I wrong ? Anyone who claims the opposite doesn't deserve any discussion. Andre Ward, personally, admited that he would like to become HW champion. I suppose that first step on this road would be the belt at CW. Am I wrong ? I would like to see the match between two grand-masters (Usyk and Ward). I can not see anything wierd here. And, Ward is not blown up SMW, he obtained olympic gold at the LHW.
Yeah, I realise everything you said in there - I'd have hoped it'd be obvious I was aware of his (and everyone mentioned) history based off what I said. Part of the way I worded what I said about Tua was intended to make it clear that the HW landscape he fought in and what Usyk is stepping into are different. The landscape now as well as how Usyk would develop into a Pro HW are clearly a dynamic thing which are hard to gauge or predict , which I why I just stated a bunch of thoughts and observations as opposed to a post offering some "devils advocate" thoughts on why him dominating at heavyweight would be a sure thing. I'd like to see it, though - it'd definitely make things more interesting than they have already been so far.
Doesn't have the KO power for me. If he can't knock out CW's he isn't going to light up the hw division.
Who said either isn't extremely skilful? Neither have the remotest chance of becoming heavyweight champion.
I will repeat...I would like to see Usyk vs. Ward at CW, before Usyk's (and Ward's too) moving up at HW. I am realistic person, and know that possibility for this fight is 1%, maybe less, but I will hope and wait...
There are some posters who argue smaller past heavies could beat modern larger skilled super heavyweights ( Lewis, Bowe, Klitschko ) . Yet some in this group don't exactly like foreign imports. A.K.A. Fighters from Eastern Europe. We know who they are. If Usyk wins a heavyweight title it will be very interesting to see if this group will embrace him, even if they really don't like him to say see I told you so. And to be honest Fury, AJ, and Wilder are not as good as Lewis, Klitschko and Bowe. Holyfield as the last man to move up from Cruiserweight to become The Heavyweight champion, likely with illegal PED's and he's 1-4 vs. Lewis and Bowe on fair score cards.
