Usyk will only be a year and 10 months younger than when Wlad fought Fury

I find it surprising indeed, but many factors have to be taken in considerations. Usyk always had a good and disciplined life outside the ring and between fights.

Also he is phisycally a ``late boomer``. He fought at middleweight in the amateurs when he was (I think) 17 against Shawn porter. His body takes time to develop. Also physically with 18-20 years old he kind of still looked like a teenager. Meanwhile for exemple Mike Tyson, Tyson Furry (and many others) were physically much more mature, already leggit heavyweight with 18, having full beard and already looking like Mens. On the other hand they started to decline a bit earlier...
Depends a lot on genetics I guess.

Wlad looked much better at the age of 41 when he fought AJ than he did with Fury. I think you can attribute that to the shyte that was going on in his personal life at the moment. End of the day, Fury won fair and square, but not giving Wlad a rematch was shameful.

He’s also had considerably less professional bouts than Klitschko had at the time.

Difference is that Fury is almost as old and has taken more damage, so it at least evens out. Usyk is probably in better physical condition actually. If one fighter is much younger than the other, then definitely there's a youth advantage. That's more the strategy of AJ though, who liked guys around 40 to give himself at least 8-10 years on them.

Great point, Usyk is a disciplined gym rat, Tyson is a party animal who does recreational drugs and eats like crazy at times….and has also tasted the canvas more in his career.

Come on man I'm not a Fury fan boy but what is he now? 36? Hardly young v old this one is it.. & it wasn't his fault WK was still the man to beat at 39 either was it... I think both of these men are passed their Prime.. Furys legs aren't what they once were & Usyk looked better as a CW imo..

to the point of this thread though, Wlad was also a disciplined gym rat. In fact, looks like he still is. And was still fading.

    Definitely thread-worthy...

Eighteen months between them, with Fury in much worse physical and mental state than Usyk.

I'm actually not too sure. Been watching football a lot and seeing Manuel Neuer get cooked over and over again at 38 this season has been really depressing. Kyle Walker is done at 34. Living the life and all is great, but age creeps up super quickly, especially in a sport where you get hit for a living.

Fury didn’t stand infront of Klitschko like Joshua, he forced the older man to chase him and use his feet, Klitschko didn’t have to use his feet to close distance against Joshua, which is exactly what an old man want.

That's because he'd suffered two stoppages in his career and had fought over 20 world title fights fighting very often.

For context Wladimir won his first world title in 2000 when he beat Chris Byrd. Between when Wladimir beat Byrd and then lost to Fury in 2015 he'd fought 31 times and a majority of those fights were world title fights against ranked opposition.

Fury since winning his first world title fight almost a decade ago has only fought in 6 title fights and only fought 11 times overall against 3 ranked opponents.

And this is why when people ask me why Wladimir is rated above Fury well the above should make it plainly obvious.

    Agree with this
Klitschko looked better, because he was in with an inferior fighter, certainly with regards to movement and skills

I do agree with him that it's shameful wlad didn't have his rematch
